Excellent Upscale Value in Quito

We had dinner at Theatrum with a group of 15. Even with the large number, the pacing was well done and the meals were outstanding. I was concerned about Gluten issues, but the staff was very conversant and changed a few things around for my wife so that nothing was slowed for others, but her meal... read more

The food is very good, The chocolate ice cream is far and away the best that we have tasted. The service is beyond anything that I have ever encountered. It started to pour during dinner. When we left, one of the servers handed each of us an umbrella and followed us to our hotel where we returned the umbrellas and... More

We had a large group of 15 people, and they accommodated us easily. The table was huge and spacious - it was hard to imagine talking to people at the other end, but you get that with a big group. There were prix fixe menus, and a la carte options; I had the blueberry roast chicken with blue cheese ravoilis... More

Food and service were very good. Close to Casa El Eden where we stayed. Good food selection of Ecuadorian meals.

We had a tour lunch at Theatrum while visiting Quito. We were provided with a buffet lunch of local favorite foods. The soup was very good. We were sat on the second floor on the balcony and had beautiful views of the plaza. The staff was pleasant and attentive. It was a beautiful place for an afternoon lunch.

We ate at Theatrum in January 2015. It is one of Quito's high end restaurant ... Lovely setting at the top of the city theatre. We had great service all around, probably the best we had in Quito. However, the food was only average and definitely below par for the price range. It ended up costing us nearly 100 USD... More

Ultimately the food was good, but the waiters were haughty, the drinks were excessively overpriced. I did enjoy the quiet due to excellent sound muffling, but overall we left dissatisfied due to the expensive to value ratio. It was close to our hotel and we were tired, and went there based on rave reviews of friends, so maybe it was... More

My husband and I frequently dine out, and are not the easiest to impress. Despite this, Teatrum stands out as one of the best restaurant experiences we have had for many years. Even prior to getting to the restaurant itself, due to some recent reported problems with taxis in Quito, we were glad of the fact that the restaurant offers... More

Returning for dinner (only had wine and appetizers on a previous visit) we were displeased to find the service haughty and inattentive. This is especially disturbing for the prices which are among the highest in Quito. There is one server who was helpful and welcoming but otherwise the place is full of itself - undeservedly so! Not in any way... More

This was recommended to us by our hotel, didn't know area so went for it - free shuttle to and from was reassuring for our first night in Quito - setting was great although decor didn't need to be so modern - food was excellent, one of the only places in our whole trip that brought amuse Bouche & bread...
