Our restaurant is located in Quito's Historical Center on the second floor of Sucre National Theater, Cultural Patrimony from the XIX century, an expression of renaissance classicism. In the entire second floor it is located the most important restaurant in Quito, THEATRUM Restaurant & Wine Bar that offers an extraordinary menu of the vanguard Mediterranean cuisine. One of our emblematic dishes is the Grilled tender octopus with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, garlic tossed in pesto vinaigrette. Our classic Ecuadorian prawns on the grill with avocado mousse and tomato fondue.

This restaurants has been open for long time on the theater premises on the nice theater square. The place is elegant, mostly patronized by tourists and it serves mostly local food. There is a tasting menu which is interesting: unfortunately there was more quantity that quality of food: very large portions of everything but average, or even bland, taste and... More

Theatrum was recommended to us by our tour director and the concierge of the hotel. Pluses, it is open on Sunday (very few Quito restaurants are), a shuttle picks you up and takes you back to your hotel and it is a lovely venue in an old theatre. We were told that this was. Mediterranean and local restaurant. When I... More

Had a great dinner on a Sunday evening ... pulpo salad, wonderful aji de carne soup, very nice lamb chivo. Great dessert. What some reviewers may have seen as poor service I think was just a slower that standard US pace and taking care with preparation. May go back tomorrow to try the coconut dishes and some of the appetizers.

We had New Years Eve dinner here, and what a special meal it was! The room is beautiful, with lovely table settings, super high ceilings and pretty curtains. The waiter gave us wine suggestions, and was helpful with the menu as well. The octopus appetizer was outstanding, as was the palm salad. For the mains, I can't recommend enough the... More

The food is delicious with a great variety of Ecuadorian food. It does feel a bit like a tourist trap but there is a great variety of food on the menu and the service is very good. I would recommend a meal there for true Ecuadorian food.

I tried the degustation menu (#1) and was actually 7 services three-quarter-portions size... which means a lot of food! Lamb, Tuna, Shrimps, and many other were all combined in one menu. Great for discovering the local dishes. Meat was overcooked and wine selection limited. Location was great as well as the staff (who actually took time to explain to us... More

We went to this restaurant after we read a recent article on NY Times. An eight course tasting dinner cost about $52 including taxes and tips. There were 2 set menu to choose from. My friend and I each pick one. The food was quite decent and tasty except the pork which was overcooked and dried. There were a lot... More

Our first night out in Quito and anxious to try the cuisine we opted for the tasting menu. Course were not small tastes but close to full entree size. Seven full plates were way too much. Setting was very relaxing, most of the courses were very well prepared and recommended Ecuadorian red wine was superb. Would go again but order from... More

This restaurant is in a lovely and elegant old world setting with high roof and lovely pan pipe ambient music in the background. The menu represented a range of traditional Ecuadorian with some creative combinations. The food ranging from ceviches to traditional soups, stews, pork and very good sea bass with quinoa was good and tasty. The service was way... More
