Description: Located in the emerging neighborhood of San Marcos along Old Town Quito's traditional Junin street, La Cuchara de San Marcos is a new green endeavor in Ecuador. Our restaurant features vegetarian, gourmet twists on traditional Ecuadorian dishes using organic ingredients from local farms, as well as fusion plates using organic chicken, fish, and meat. La Cuchara is also home to an art gallery and store featuring jewelry, accessories, and crafts made with recycled products by local artisans. We are also a nano-brewery, focusing on hoppy ales and the occasional Belgian, while featuring other local craft brews.

This restaurant is located in historical Quito but it took some time for our taxi driver to locate it. We are happy we persevered. The restaurant is situated at the very end of Junin street, the street takes a turn to the right and thereafter ends in a dead end. It is in this dead end, on your right that... More

The restaurant is located in a charming neighborhood a walkable distance from the main Plaza in old Quito. The atmosphere was lovely, but the vegetarían lunch entree I had was amazingly bland and one of the most expensive during my travels in Quito. I actually left the place hungry. I was charged $1.50 for a wine glass full of water... More

Traveling as a vegetarian in South America is extremely difficult. This place offers traditional Ecuadorian food with a vegetarian spin - and still plenty of options for my meat loving friends. In addition, excellent quality local craft brews & delicious cocktails. If your not drinking the house brewed beer I recommend a Pisco Sour or Manhattan. But less about the... More

We walked to this restaurant from our hotel in old town quito and took a taxi back. It is a little bit hidden but at the end of a quaint street. The food was excellent and for us our best meal in quito. The atmosphere is charming and we enjoyed the jazz music playing in the background. Selection of menu... More

It took one visit to La Cuchara de San Marcos to make me a regular. The atmosphere and cuisine are first rate, the service excellent. The neighborhood is colorful, clean and safe, one of the nicer parts of the old city. The vegetarian fare is especially delicious. They serve outstanding locally-brewed beer and fire up some wicked mixed drinks. This... More

La Cuchara de San Marcos is a bit off the beaten track by being located in a primarily residential and "tranquilo" neighborhood of the Historical District of Quito. It's located in the cul-de-sac of Junín just past Iglesia San Marcos. The neighborhood itself is very safe during the day but visitors unfamiliar with the neighborhood can easily find themselves is... More

La Cuchara was one of my favorite experiences in Quito which is saying a lot given how much I loved the city. It is tucked away in a hidden cul-de-sac but is worth seeking out. We were there on the last Sunday of the month which meant that we were able to enjoy great live jazz on their outdoor rooftop... More

The restaurant was hard to find, but it was worth the search. The place is very unique, nicely decorated and very cozy. The meals were not only tasty but also beautifully decorated. The only negative comment I have is that I thought the food was overpriced.

We ate there our last 2 nites in Quito. It's in a nice neighbourhood about 15 minutes walk from the Plaza Grande. the food is delicious, organic and quite innovative for Quito and they have micro beers plus their own delicious pale ale. They also have a small art gallery and a gift shop with all kinds of beautiful jewellry... More

Located in Old Town about a 20 minute walk from the Presidential Palace and one block from the Plaza San Marcos. The food was exquisite and service impeccable. The colonial style building surrounds a pleasant outdoor patio. There is an art gallery and gift shop that feature recycled products. The food is primarily Ecuadorian and vegetarian but they do serve... More
