We chose this resturant after arriving in Quito by trawling Tripadvisor As our first Taste of Ecuador we cannot give a considered verdict on the food but can recommend the staff - especially the manager - for taking the time to go through the menu with us English speakers

It is the spring and restaurants in Quito are "competing" who makes better Fanesca (typical Ecuadorian 12-beans dish). I eat three different during my trip but one in Barlovento was by far the best. Service is quick and very professional. It the great place for fish as well. Be prepared that the meals in this restaurant will cost you little... More

We showed upnon Valentines Day without a reservation. Every table was full but the manager greeted us and put us at a table where somone had a later reservation. Thwy have a manager that speaks english and spanish and their service was great. The seafood was great.

Been there for lunch three times already, because I really love their seafood boulabaisse and the garlic shrimp. Price is reasonable, won't break your bank.tried their oyster, sadly it's too small in size. The ambience is quite nice, up in the hill near a round about, overall, it's serve comfort food. Worth a try.

We were in Quito several different times during a three week vacation in Ecuador, and we found ourselves back at this restaurant three times. The service was outstanding. The staff was warm and friendly, and the food was superb. The steamed sea bass was the best I have ever had, and the seafood paella on a separate visit was excellent!... More

Cab drivers have trouble finding this place. It has a nice selection of the freshest seafood served in the Ecuadorian style. The decor might use an uplift. Otherwise it. Was delicious

We were at the Hotel Quito, so the Barlovento was just a short walk. It was very quiet the night we ate there, but the service was efficient and the waiter very accomadating. There is a pretty bar with a waterfall wall. Food and drinks were reasonable and the fish excellent. I asked what was fresh, and was given a... More

While staying at the nearby Villa Nancy Hotel my daughter and I ate at Barlovento's a couple times. WE would have returned more often but we did not actually try it until quite late in our trip. We will be back here anytime we are in Quito, looks pretty ho-tie to-tie but it is surprisingly fun, any way less expensive... More

We stopped in Quito after Galapagos and had a dinner here. The place is in a distant part of the city (15 minutes by taxi from the airport). Kevlar-clad security guard in front of the place gave us creeps - we imagined attackers with machine guns shooting through the windows at the diners? Inside, mostly westerners, place was quiet on...
