Greatly improved!

We had eaten in this restaurant a couple (few?) years ago and though it was "so-so". Since our nearby target turned out to be closed (and we were tired from hiking up above the teleferico) we popped in not expecting too much. I have no idea when the improvements were made, but now it is first... read more

This was my second time in Barlovento. The first time was very good...this time was excellent! Started with empanadas and ceviche, and finished with corvina (a type of sea bass). The service was excellent and the whole dining experience was great. Will be returning on my next visit to Quito.

Ended up here kind of by accident for lunch. The ceviche with shrimp and squid and avocado was great. Have never had it served with tostado corn and popped corn. Yummy

We chose this resturant after arriving in Quito by trawling Tripadvisor As our first Taste of Ecuador we cannot give a considered verdict on the food but can recommend the staff - especially the manager - for taking the time to go through the menu with us English speakers

It is the spring and restaurants in Quito are "competing" who makes better Fanesca (typical Ecuadorian 12-beans dish). I eat three different during my trip but one in Barlovento was by far the best. Service is quick and very professional. It the great place for fish as well. Be prepared that the meals in this restaurant will cost you little... More

Been there for lunch three times already, because I really love their seafood boulabaisse and the garlic shrimp. Price is reasonable, won't break your bank.tried their oyster, sadly it's too small in size. The ambience is quite nice, up in the hill near a round about, overall, it's serve comfort food. Worth a try.

We were in Quito several different times during a three week vacation in Ecuador, and we found ourselves back at this restaurant three times. The service was outstanding. The staff was warm and friendly, and the food was superb. The steamed sea bass was the best I have ever had, and the seafood paella on a separate visit was excellent!... More

Cab drivers have trouble finding this place. It has a nice selection of the freshest seafood served in the Ecuadorian style. The decor might use an uplift. Otherwise it. Was delicious

We were at the Hotel Quito, so the Barlovento was just a short walk. It was very quiet the night we ate there, but the service was efficient and the waiter very accomadating. There is a pretty bar with a waterfall wall. Food and drinks were reasonable and the fish excellent. I asked what was fresh, and was given a... More
