In Quito for two days pre Galagapos, and since it was my 2nd time in Quito I wanted to do a food tour. My guide arranged for me to visit achiote. I thought I was just having an authentic meal. But...owner Lucy and her son Philip put me in an apron and hat and into the kitchen we went. So,... read more

We were staying at he JW Marriott and we asked for a recommendation for an authentic Ecuadorian restaurant. This was a delightful small restaurant very near the JW Marriott. Our waitress was lovely and she made suggestions as to what to order. My fish was baked in coconut milk and topped with coconut. It was one of the most memorable... More

Went here for dinner after a few meals of local, street food. The food is delicious and incredible value (2 drinks, 2 mains and 3 apps all for $35 - with tax and tip!). The service was good and the sangria divine. The only unfortunate things is it's clearly a restaurant for tourists - no locals were dining when we... More

Thirteen of us went for dinner last night. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. We thought the price was very reasonable and if we had more time in quito we would definitely be back.

We had dinner here twice as it was nearby our hotel, we enjoyed our first dinner and it was open on Sunday unlike most places. They have quite an extensive menu and everything sounded quite interesting. We tried some ecuadorian startes, soup (locro which was excellent!) and fish. The only disappointment was the ceviche - we expected a similar version... More

Went there on our second night in Quito, on recommendation of an Ecuadorian acquaintance. Menu had lots of Ecuadorian dishes to try. It was delicious, not crowded, reasonably priced, had a live guitarist (call to ask when they have live music) and very nicely decorated. Staff was accommodating and service was very good.

We went on a recent Saturday evening. We arrived about the same time as two large tourist groups, one in the main dining room and another in a side room. The staff were gracious enough to give us a table. The food was pleasant and nicely presented. We both had the shrimp in coconut sauce with a mango salad. However... More

This was one of the best meals we have had in Ecuador. Many excellent choices for the vegetarian in our family. Tasty and lovely presentation!

A group of us went tonight and had a fabulous meal. Starting off with a ceviche made with hearts of palm slices and banana chips with roasted corn was just the start. Others got the plantains with cream cheese and herbs and were also pleasantly pleased. Cameron's (shrimp) in coconut sauce with yucca fries and a small salad was beautifully... More
