Lovely interior to dine, and exceptional ceviche

The food was very good and well priced, not overly expensive. We were seated immediately, but yes the service is slow. Our first course came, and then the wine, and finally our main course. Wine was high for Ecuador, but normal for US prices.

Nice restaurant with friendly staff and extensive menu with local dishes. Not cheap, “western” prices. The service however is unacceptably slow: with only one other table with 4 guests, we had to wait 20 minutes for our soup and another 25 minutes for our main dish. Since we arrived in Quito that afternoon after a 16 hour journey and traveling... More

Quito boasts some truly excellent food, however it was not to be found at Achiote. The good parts - great service, a very tasty chica drink and a complimentary croquette while I waited for my starter. I took the waiter's recommendation in the starter, which were just plantain fritters - the same as I was given all through the trip,... More

Went on my first night, enjoyed it so much that I grabbed all my friends and dragged them in on my last night 2 weeks later and we all loved it!

Excellent service and great ambiance including an outstanding, but unobtrusive guitar player/singer. I had the Seco de Chivo (goat) and my friends had different varieties of pork - all were excellent!

This restaurant is only a couple of blocks from out hotel. We searched for a place nearby and decided on Achiote. We were served by a friendly waiter who was very helpful with good English. We were brought a complimentary piece of fried plantain with cream cheese-a nice amuse bouche. Started with potato and cheese patties, served with guacamole. Wow!!... More

It's hard to fault this little restaurant, just away from the Plaza Foch. Our waiter was excellent (and helped us by explaining in English as well), the food was a great portion size and it tasted great.

We were with an OAT trip and had dinner our first night at this restaurant. The food and service was superb. It was the first of many great dining experiences while in Quito.

Located in Plaza Foch claims to have Ecuador cuisine; this was the only time in our 2 week travels in Ecuador that we had a bad experience. We traveled as a family with 2 adults and 2 teen kids. Ordered some ceviche, pasta and chicken dishes. Ceviche was horrible, literally ate a few bites and stopped. Pasta was undercooked with... More
