We went there for dinner. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. We had steak, pork and fish. It is located near the Foch square and you have an interesting view of the passers-by in the street below. There were no locals eating in the restaurant when we were there, only tourists.

The restaurant offers a wide range of what might be considered home cooked receipts. The menu has a wide range of Ecuadorian dishes that can be explored for a wide-ranging trip through typical Ecuadorian dishes. The service can be slow but all in all I would recommend it if you want to explore while enjoying a thoroughly well prepared meal.... More

Sometimes when traveling it is hard to eat the local cuisine but Achiote solves that problem by preparing authentic Ecuadorian cuisine with western standards of cleanliness and provides a menu with clear descriptions in Spanish and English of what the dish is. The wait staff is also friendly, helpful and often interested in practicing the their English.

Great for local food cooked very well and with well spoken English explanation. The restaurant was packed at 7pm and we waited until 8 with only a gratis appetiser to keep is going, hence the poor rating for service. The ceviche, langoustines and goat were excellent, as was their white wine by the glass.

Based on TripAdvisor and other reviews, we chose Achiote for our last night out in Quito. It's a lovely restaurant with modern decor and friendly staff. But the food, while good, never rose to the level the ecstatic reviews led me to expect. We had empanadas, ceviche and the potato cheese soup (whose Ecuadorian name I've forgotten). All good but... This restaurant was fantastic - the food was amazing, the service was good and they had live music on the weekends. I would highly recommend having the side dishes and an entree, the potato soup is incredible!

Enjoyed the meal in this lovely restaurant - chosen for its 'Ecuadorian menu". It was a little pricey for Ecuador, but not by north American standards. The service was excellent, and the complementary appetizer a nice touch. The restaurant was immaculate, with great views of the street.

Very nice, quiet atmosphere with very good food. Service was very nice, slow but food fresh and delicious. We were attended to the whole time. I recommend highly.

This is a lovely, lively place in the La Mariscal district of New Town. The ambiance is nice. The food was very good Ecuadorian fare. It was a good experience but the bill was higher than we would have expected for what we got.
