Mama Clorinda was recommended by a local, so we had high expectations. We ordered an empanada for starters -- very good, especially with the chili sauce. But the ceviche, which we were told was a specialty, was disappointing -- not very spicy, and bland to boot. And the fish and shrimp tasted like they had been cooked rather than marinated... More

Lots of tourists and locals in this bustling little 2 story restaurant between Old Town and Mariscal. Our cab driver recommended it and we were glad we trusted his suggestion! One page of the menu is all Ecuadorian specialties - like tripe, tongue, guinea pig, cow's foot soup- which we didn't try. But less 'traditional' dishes of tamales and empanadas... More

Hey, you can get Cuy here! I didn't though. I got a typical lunch with some chorizo, rice, salad, and a few other items with a fried egg on top. Basically, the food that I love in Ecuador. Fresh, tasty, and filling. The waitress was good, the food was good, and everything was nice and clean. Not my favorite but... More

Not being familiar with Ecuadorean food it's difficult to rate the food authenticity, however, we had the fried guinea pig and a mixed pork/potato/corn dish which both were very tasty. As stated in other reviews the prices are on the high side being in a tourist area but the restaurant was very quaint and in a good location so to... More

The interior was cozy and aesthetically pleasing, like being in the living room of a home. The menu was modest. The desserts were great. Try the Tamale and the Maduro con Queso. Yummy. Service was slow. Prices were moderate.

Three of us ate dinner here and had very good empanadas and corn/potato soup, accompanied by beers. We were also served complimentary plantain chips, salsa, and popcorn. There are several levels in this restaurant, do if the first floor looks small, it's a larger restaurant than one might think. Food service, accepts credit cards.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel because we were looking to try for Cuy (guinea pig). The service was good. The staff spoke in Spanish but the menu was in both English and Spanish. We went for lunch and were expecting to be blown away (given the prices), but the food was just okay. Nothing we ordered... More

this restaurant is in the main square in the Marescal area of Quito and there are an awful lot of restaurants mostly cheap ones but this is a good one - well priced Ecuadorian cuisine . Busy , with good food , pleasant staff and clean loos !

Even if you don't plan to eat "Cui" this is a place we can recommend. The food has a very good quality, served fresh by very friendly waiters.

The restaurant is located near Foch Plaza so expect to pay tourist prices, nothing cheap here. The food was well cooked and they have cuy (guinea pig) on the menu. It was dfried as opposed to spit roasted in case you care. I had an traditional Ecuadorian pork platter with various things like boiled corn, fried corn, grilled pork and... More
