Sea bass was good

This restaurant was recommended to us and was close to our hotel. It was cozy and clean and the service was fine. I wasn't brave enough to try the "cuy" or guinea pig, but had the sea bass which was quite good. As others have mentioned, it is a bit pricey but it was our first night in Quito so... read more

this restaurant is up over Plaza La Foch so is good for people watching. The staff are great and the food was tasty but very pricey for traditional Ecuadorian fare. We had half a guinea pig as this was recommended as their speciality but there was very little meat on it - was fun to eat though - they give... More

The restaurant is located elevated on a corner so you can watch sidewalk activity from certain seats. The food was local and fine. Our bill for two with one drink was $56. The taxi driver had recommended this place as local when we arrived the prior day and it was about a 4-block walk from our hotel.

This is a good place to begin your explorations of Ecuadorian food. The food is tasty. The restaurant is cheerful. And they take a credit card, which is nice. However, there is a lot of great, much cheaper food in Quito, even in La Mariscal. Use Mama Clorinda as your training wheels, then head out to the wonderful small shops... More

And guinea pig has very little meat. This was the place that was recommended for this local delicacy. While it tastes great, there is mostly a few morsels on a lot of bones. The rest of the food was also good but not spectacular and the prices were a little high for what we got but the service was good... More

We had dinner there. It is on the Foch square. The food and service was excellent. None of the staff could speak any English, but it wasn't a problem. The food was good and the prices very reasonable.I had Trout and my wife the lamb. Both were good. I would go there again.

Disappointing in every way, except service, which was friendly, and the fact that it overlooks Foch square. Decor bland and boring, not creative or authentic in the least. Food was uninspired, did not feel like local cuisine at all- I tried the Cuy, which I sent back because it was undercooked- almost raw in the middle. Big Yuck. Vegetable salad was... More

I assume you are paying for the location on Plaza Foch. The food is good and so is the service. But it is a tad pricey for what you get.

Mama Clorinda was recommended by a local, so we had high expectations. We ordered an empanada for starters -- very good, especially with the chili sauce. But the ceviche, which we were told was a specialty, was disappointing -- not very spicy, and bland to boot. And the fish and shrimp tasted like they had been cooked rather than marinated... More
