Great location. Really pretty and period decoration inside. Food was good (although we ate light). My kids enjoyed the gnocchi appetizer, I had the corn chowder with shrimp soup and then the empanadas platter. My husband had the Locro cream and then langoustines. All very good, nicely presented, tasty and well priced. The staff was very attentive and nice. All... More

We had been told that this was one of the best restaurants in Quito.it turned out to be one of the worst meals that we had ever had the misfortune to eat. The restaurant was empty apart from our party of 6 and one other couple. The only bread on offer was stale French sliced baguette . The inedible food... More

The food was amazing, but most of all it is worth it for its beautiful indoor decoration and its views to the "plaza de la independencia". In the heart of the old town, it is worth a visit!

My husband and I had dinner here on the recommendation our hotel manager. It was a Tuesday night and there was only one other patron in the restaurant at the time we were there. The food was good and the service was very good. The restaurant overlooks Independence Plaza, and yes, the lights from the Plaza were annoying, but that... More

The restaurant occupies part of a former archbishop's palace. It is a very pleasant room overlooking the Plaza Grande in the historic centre of Quito. The dining room is great and the service first class. It has a calm and relaxing ambience although it is a formal restaurant. Enjoyable atmosphere. The flood lights are a problem; they shine from the... More

I was satisfied (but certainly not overjoyed) with the food. The service was above average, but not as friendly as other places in Quito. One reviewer said the price was half what you'd pay in the States. Unfortunately, it is twice what you'd pay in Ecuador. Oh, right.... this IS Ecuador.

When we entered this restaurant we were immediately concerned. Very elegant settings and decor. We were pleasantly surprised that the prices were reasonable. We found higher prices in some restaurants that were not nearly as nice. Our service was excellent and the food was very good. Nicely presented. Portions were not huge, but that is not what we were looking... More

Our meal at Mea Culpa offered a beautiful setting, excellent service, and delicious food. The owner/chef came out to speak with us and offer some wonderful suggestions for a memorable dining experience in Quito.

Like other reviewers we were lucky enough to get a window table and very much enjoyed watching the world go by in the plaza outside. This is an old fashioned and quite formal restaurant with good food and excellent service. Recommended.

I ate in this restaurant with my son the first week in January, 2014. The next day I was violently ill from food poisoning (very likely the ceviche). Ruined the rest of my trip. Friendly staff, but cannot recommend the place
