Beauifully situated in the heart of the Historical Center

Right across from the Iglesia del Sagrario is the Mea Culpa. The building in which it lies is just absolutely stunning, taking you right back into the lives of the spanish aristocratic families and their lives at the turn of the 19th century. The interior is perfect; the chairs, the tables, the... read more

Had lunch at Mea Culpa while in Quito. It has a beautiful view of the square and the presentation of the food was very nice. We ordered Cajun Langostinos and Sea Bass. Both were horribly overcooked. The fish required a knife to cut. The Langostino was dried and chewy. Service was equally poor. The restaurant is beautiful but the servers... More

The place might appear to you a little bit to strict at first sight but actually the people are very welcoming there and the food if very good. We spent pour first diner in Quito there and loved it. Highly recommended in old town of Quito.

Quito was lively celebrating its 180 years of foundation, hundreds of thousands equatorians shouting Viva Quito, and bands playing patriotic songs, while we were looking for a restaurant. Well, here it is: Mea Culpa with a table by the window, extremely privileged view of the downtown square filled of enthusiasm. Excellent typical food, very nice service, a bottle of Pinot... More

If you want a special restaurant for a special occasion then head to this place. Great location in the oldest part of town. You'll find much cheaper restaurants offering excellent food but they won't have the wow factor of this place. The food was very good - interesting traditional dishes from Ecuador. A great wine list including some incredible Argentinian... More

We found this charming restaurant while touring the old town. When we entered we thought our touring clothes might not be accepted in such an elegant dining room but they were happy to have us. They seated us at a window table which was great for people watching on the square. We were there for lunch and we enjoyed the... More

Had lunch here on the recommendation of our guide in Quito and encountered a very nice ambience with food that was nice without being spectacular. The place was perhaps a little more formal than what we were after following a busy morning touring he sites. Located on the second floor of a beautiful building overlooking the the Plaza Grande we... More

Great location. Really pretty and period decoration inside. Food was good (although we ate light). My kids enjoyed the gnocchi appetizer, I had the corn chowder with shrimp soup and then the empanadas platter. My husband had the Locro cream and then langoustines. All very good, nicely presented, tasty and well priced. The staff was very attentive and nice. All... More

We had been told that this was one of the best restaurants in Quito.it turned out to be one of the worst meals that we had ever had the misfortune to eat. The restaurant was empty apart from our party of 6 and one other couple. The only bread on offer was stale French sliced baguette . The inedible food... More

The food was amazing, but most of all it is worth it for its beautiful indoor decoration and its views to the "plaza de la independencia". In the heart of the old town, it is worth a visit!
