We were staying near Uncle Ho's and went in one night for dinner. The decor is unusual, the menu selections substantial, and the service wonderful. The Scottish proprietor came out to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Food in Quito is not cheap, so Uncle Ho's was a pleasant surprise at the lower end of the price scale, yet... More

Uncle Hos has been a local favorite since it opened. Now, across the street from the original location and under the helm of a longterm chef from Scotland, it keeps suprising me with new dishes and constant improvenments to the menu. Try the steak with pepper sauce, the calamari, the shrimp rolls, and the fish. The Asian dishes depend on... More

....would eat here twice. If you think you're heading into Sapa or Hoi An for a delicious Vietnamese dining experience, you'll be sadly disappointed. However, if you want a few fun drinks and some conversation in English...go right on in, you'll have a good time... just eat elsewhere first.

This is a great place to go, especially if you don't speak much Spanish (of course, it's a great place to go if you do speak Spanish ;) ), as there are lots of people from all over the world who go to this place. That aside, the food is excellent and a good price, and the staff are very... More

We really really wanted to like this place. Loving Vietnamese and being vegetarian we were so excited to see Tofu on a menu in South america! The staff were super lovely and the location is great however the food really let it down. I ordered grilled tofu and vegetables, the tofu was completely raw and just soaked in soy sauce.... More

Food was okay at best. Appetizers of shrimp and eggrolls tasted like frozen variety. Pad thai was more like a pasta dish with chicken and light seasonings, and other dishes were overcooked and severely lacking in seasoning. Happy hour cocktails were very reasonably priced and probably one of the better things we had that evening. Service was good, some English... More

My recommendation would be to come here for the bar and comraderie with fellow english speaking regulars/visitors. We ended up here for a drink, great martini's but I think only one beer on tap. Stewart was great and drinks were reasonable. The people at the bar were also very friendly...kind of like a "Cheers" but in Ecuador and all different... More

We went with a group of 12 people to have dinner and some drinks late March, the place had a nice atmosphere, a bar in the middle with lots of drinks and beer. It fell small and cozy inside. We sat down for dinner and order a promotion of Beer with assorted entrees for $12.00. It was nice to try... More

We love Quito, Ecuador but after about 3 weeks of eating surprisingly bland Ecuadorian food we were led to this wonderful little place - owned by a Scotsman (Stewart MacDonald)! The food is good, and nice and spicy. The place is well decorated, the ambiance intimate, and Mr. MacDonald is a pleasure to talk to - there is a bar... More
