Don't judge a book by its cover

From the outside might like a place you woudn't like to go in, it looks more like a cheap Chilean dinner, but wait, not all that is gold glitters. It is a simple restaurant, nothing fancy about it, but it is great. The food was really good, probably one of the bes sea food I've had in the South... read more

We were recommended this place by our tour guide and in particular the scallop in Parmesan starter, the conger eel dishes and sea bass. The service was really friendly and fast, none in English and food was so delicious we revisited later in the week when the lady who owns the place insisted on us each having pisco shots! Loved... Delicious Chilean dishes, excellent service, run with an iron hand by "La Chamaca", a larger than life lady who rules over the place and pays attention to every detail. Generous portions, plain surroundings, a genuine culinary experience. Don´t miss it! The best "centolla" ever!!!

Sure this place lacks polish... the lights are too bright, you can see into the store cupboards, they don't have all the drinks listed in the menu... BUT... the food is excellent! Huge choice of fish options and the food was reasonably priced for large and delicious portions. The waitress was friendly and fun, teaching us Spanish and recommending cheap... More

This restaurant, in my opinion, is a smaller version of La Olla (in fact, I believe the owners of the 2 restaurants are brother and sister). The dishes offered are basically the same, and the prices are comparable. La Olla is a grander place, but Chamaca Inn has the benefit of being downtown. In terms of food, you're getting simple,... This was a nice surprise! We were hungry and walked in to an almost empty restaurant we noticed while we were doing initial exploration of the town. It is handy to be on the American schedule for meals rather than the South American because they eat so late. The waitress was so friendly, but spoke no English. We could communicate... More

Just eaten an excellent meal of more types of fish than I can count in ceviche and congrio in seafood sauce as well as salmon, very good fish, brilliant staff and an amazing price w a Chilean sauvignon blanc. Deserves to be up there with the top.

We went to Chamaca Inn based on the recommendation of our hotel staff who insisted that seafood here was “fresher than anything at Angelmó” in Puerto Montt. It turned out they were both right and wrong. Although the seafood was fresh, the preparation of what we ordered (ceviche, merluza, chupe de locos, etc.) was basic and far below expectation, with... We wnt there this sunday, and found the place full. Service was fast, but the food was not more than average, or maybe just below average. I had a seafood platter with peppers and garlic, and all tasted the same. I found it all overcooked. My sons fish tasted strange. There are better alternatives in Puerto Varas, and I will... More
