Knowing the place for 20+ years now, the owners still look the same and do recognize me, even though I'm only dropping by once or twice per year nowadays (left Singapore in '92 already). When they moved house (I went through the rubble of the old house then and found a nice memento), it didn't change the atmosphere, only the... More

You don't go to Colbar for the food ! You go for every thing else. An oasis in the Jungle. The owners have been running the place since the year dot and now their daughter helps. You sit in the outdoor in an old low key heritage building that was moved about 1o years to put in an expressway.. and... More

Wanted to look for a nice quiet place for our date. Was disappointed with the poor quality of the food. Won't return again.

This place is an oasis, away from the endless movement and bustle of Singapore. Although it has changed locations - it used to be further down the Portsdown Road - pretty much everything else has remained the same. In a city state that tends to change things incessantly this little anachronistic restaurant is a tonic, and a reminder of the... More

Great spot, authentic, cool atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Really enjoy this place - no nonsense, good value food and beer.

If you want a great, cheap chicken curry with no frills the come her for lunch. Massive selection of beers to wash it down and a bit of history with the building as well. I was a regular customer.

Don't expect a luxurious setting and table service. You order at the counter, grab a beer from the fridge and the food arrives shortly at your plastic table and chair. It's as simple as that, however, the food is amazing (we had a mixture of UK kids meals and Chinese for the adults). It's a very social affair and a... More

Do not go expecting gourmet food and wonderful service. Instead select the beers yourself from the fantastic range in the fridge. Order up a sausage sandwich or fish and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce and then keep an eye out for mosquitos. Then sit down, consume and enjoy. The food is simple and honest and the staff are... More

A good get-away from the city but not too accessible by public transport. Since its move from its original location near the Ayer Rajah Expressway, its present location is not obvious from the nearest road. Food is OK. The bottle of cider costs S$11, while food (curry chicken and fish & chips) costs S$21. This is relativey expensive by Singapore... More

I guess for someone who is looking to enjoy the wide range of ales/beers - even some cider from the fridge, or feel like an expat & have a white bread sausage sandwich with the crusts cut off with HP sauce, this is a good spot - and there's plenty of space for the kids to run around. But I... More
