Authentic Yakitori!

Was recommended by a friend to try out at this restaurant. Wanted to have yakitori and didn't know where's the best place to go. It was my first visit there, food was satisfying! I recommend to get the Saahimi and Yakitori course with an additional order of a garlic rice. It was just nice for 2... read more

If you are aiming to savour on mid-range priced Japanese cuisine in Singapore and do not want to be spitting on your way out, this place is one of the rare few you should go to. I had my dinner there tonight, which I have always wanted to revisit, for my last visit to the place was more than 10... More

I have been a regular patron to this outlet for their affordable set lunches. There are wide selections of Japanese Bento with my personal favourite as the Yakitori set. Yakitori sticks are well seasoned, great favours and neatly presented on the Bento box. The showmanship of the Yakitori chefs are delectable. From fresh raw ingredients to cooked, taking place right... More

Nothing fancy but a nice n warm friendly place. I had the Sgd13.50 yakitori set lunch. The barbecue items were done just right. The chicken balls were delicious - crispy on the outside, nice and it dry. I like the service because though was lunch time, the staff give me ample time to browse thru the menu. The ala carte... The staffs were friendly, thus no complaints for the service. Quality of food is indeed fresh! Food serve hot but too fast.

Chicken yakitori with wasabi a bit dry but very tasty (my favorite). Grilled mackerel is ok but very strong flavor and awkward to eat. Grilled unagi was unremarkable. Very good grilled zucchini and very good grilled eggplant. You should pass on the starter vegetables. Service was fast. Prices were a bit high. Tables close together and the counter is even... More

It is difficult to know why people rave about, and crowd this place. It is generally poor. The atmosphere is awfu,l it is crushed and you have no room whatsoever, not even to open a menu. The chairs are too low for the table and are uncomfortable. Some one said shabby but charming ? Just shabby really. The food -... More

Back in Singapore again one year later. Back at Nanbantei, and the food is still good. Not outstanding, but good. The yakitori bento box is delicious, but it seems like the rice portion is smaller, and the price has gone up as well. We also ordered the sashimi and tempura set - nice but nothing exceptional. There are other eateries... More

There seems to be countless yakitori options in Singapore, and Nanbantei is one of the better ones. If I'm not wrong, it's been in business for over 30 years in the rather shabby yet charming Far East Plaza. The location seems a bit odd but I guess that's why it's a bit of a hidden gem. I've come here for... More

Had a great, casual meal here tonight including grilled meats, sushi, grilled rice, gyoza, and various veggie sides. All for around $50US....a good deal for the area. Atmosphere is lively, busy, and small, but worth it! Right across the sky bridge from Royal Plaza on Scots hotel and next to the Marriott.
