Simple, unpretentious Thai food (but too much MSG)

We had heard lots about Jai Thai and had high expectations. The food was pretty good especially if you're looking for unpretentious Thai dishes, i.e. they focus on putting tasty dishes on your table rather than dishes with fancy deco :) The downside, however, was the excessive use of MSG (at least... read more

A simple straight forward Thai restaurant along main East Coast Road, cover standard dishes like Tom Yum, green curry. Tried the Tom yum with chilli paste soup but was too salty but the green curry chicken was delicious. Olive rice was too plain as they do not served with minced pork with sauce. Was hoping to try som Tum but... More

In general, most dishes are very good and suit our tastes. Prices are reasonable. That day was full house with only 2 persons to serve the customers. However, they were very polite and patience.

My six year old epicurean son insisted that we return here. And for good reason. Love the authenticity of the flavours. Brilliant simple food. Will be returning.

Generally Thai food is quite expensive in Singapore. But our visit to Jai Thai proved that wrong. This was our second visit and both trips have produced authentic Thai food at affordable prices. We had prawn cakes, spring rolls, red chicken curry, fish in chilli sauce, fried rice and mango salad. We also had soft drinks. Total bill was just... More

Its not an expensive place but it does not compromise on the taste bud. the portions are good at the price they charge. I will visit this place for my frequent Thai food craving. Warning, if you want an upscale interiors then this is not the place but if you want good thai food it is. Enjoy.

Love the authentic Thai food here. Must try the tamarind sea bass or tilapia! We always order the mango salad for starters! Won't break your bank as it is value for money. And we always wash it down with a nice hot lemongrass tea.

Food is not as good as some restaurants I visited in Thailand, but still authentic, and rare for this price in Singapore. Both my girlfriend and myself are frequent visitors to this place, usually after our movie nights.
