The entire Midlink building is closed for redevelopment. All tenants have moved out. The owners of Zen are looking for another location. Meanwhile you can try their other restaurant "Herbivore" at Fortune Center (junction of Middle Road and Bencoolen St) - slightly more pricey (even though the ambience isn't any more upmarket), but with many of our favourites from Zen.

This is one of my family's favourite restaurants. We're a vegetarian family, and my kids for some reason love Japanese food. This is one place we keep returning to. Wouldn't say the food is excellent, but it is good. Our favourite is the dobinmushi - mushroom soup served in a teapot. Great variety.

Being a vegeterian, I felt I would never be able to try Japanese cuisine - except maybe a fried rice or Tempura prepared out of secial request. But thanks to my friend, I discovered this place and just loved it. It gives a fair taste of Japanese food - if not the exact one you would get with non-vegeterian ingredients.... More

I was pleasantly surprised with the food here. Very nicely presented but i felt personally were small portions. However, still worth a visit to see this blend of Japanese-chinese type Vegetarian food. You may have to walk past the Fortune Centre to find it -parking may be difficult but I think there is a parking by the Fortune centre. THEN... More

Top class japanese food for vegetarians. Its simplicity of ambiance allows the beauty and tastes of the food, prepared with care and love, to become clear in the Soul of the eater. My children enjoyed and said that they had never ever had such dilicously prepared vegetarian food before. We tried all types and from the whole menu. No alcoholic... More

Service is speedy and efficient. The food is excellent and a good variety of choices. For a vegetarian restaurant - i would have to commend them for creativity when it comes to the menu. Loved the vegetarian unagi (japanese eel) - the closest i have tasted to the real thing. 1 complain though - the restaurant is not very spacious... More

If you are looking for a restaurant that offers you more than just the usual vegetarian fare, maybe try out what this newly opened restaurant situated in the Tourist Hotpot - Bugis, has to offer - Japanese Vegetarian Cuisine! Oh, it is not the Shojiin Ryori Cuisine (Zen Temple Food) but just the local's favourite Japanese Cuisine in Vegetarian version.... More
