What could you do, if you like the style of Japanese dining but you don't feel comfortable sitting in that style? That restaurant has a solution :) And yes, the food was nice and the staff helpful.

On the plus side, this restaurant has a great location for dinner on a warm evening, with a great outdoor seating area by the river. But that's where the positives end. The service was a nightmare - from placing an order (at least 15 minutes) to the hour long wait for grilled chicken and skewers which, when they arrived, tasted... More

After much thought of what to have for dinner we decided to settle for Japanese. What actually attracted me about the restaurant was the interior decor. The service was good and the food was average, like any other Japanese food but presented well and a little more pricey. I wish they could have closed the main door as the heat... More

Great location at Clarke Quay, but choose the outside riverside tables. Food was as ordered with fast and efficient delivery. The waitresses were surly - permanent frowns were etched on their faces. Though they were supposed to be open till 1 AM, they started to raise the level of the inside music before 11 PM. As they ratcheted up the... More

Clarke Quay is one of the areas where Singapore's bars and restaurants are concentrated at. I'm still in doubt whether most of the people around are tourists or expats, but it is certainly loved by Westerners. Directly next to the river, when crossing the main bridge, Tomo Izakaya is situated. We were lucky enough to get a table at the... More

We came upon this restaurant while visiting Clarke Quay one Sunday evening. We were directed to a table that was not in a satisfactory position (against the entrance steps) and so we asked if we could move to one of about 6 other tables that were vacant and non with any reserved signs. The waitress said no they were all... More

Was doing research on good Japanese food around Clarke Quay and stumbled upon a review for Tomo Izakaya. Had dinner there last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! What we liked: - Riverside seating with view of the Singapore River at night - Good food and reasonable prices - had the Renton Chips, Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll, Tomo Caesar Salad... More

This izakaya had a good selection of tasty dishes which went perfectly together with a cold Asahi and a mug of sake. The prices are steep, but this is after all Clarke Quay..!

Loving Japanese culture and food, I was out to dine one night at Clarke Quay when I spotted the Tomo Izakaya. Lured by the tanuki at the door, I went in and was well received, with live music on a saturday night. The house had probably a 40 to 50% occupancy. Ordered some kimchee ramen and some chicken meatballs. The... More

Japanese food of good quality. We tried different kind of maki and a grilled squid: everything has been well prepared (not exceptional but not bad) and quickly served. I give one more point for the position: you will enjoy a great view of the river.
