Value for money South Indian food

No nonsense South Indian joint. You can wrap up your meals in about SGD 20 for a family of 4. The Idli I did not like it much, they have although created some 7-8 small ones dipped in sambhar in a single potion, maybe my North Indian taste buds prevented me to appreciate the same. But this place... read more

Good, reliable southern Indian vegetable dishes here. Nothing to rave about, and they seem to rely rather too heavily on potato, but I'd still eat here again. The food was also a bit spicier than other spots like Komala Villas, just as a warning to those who don't like spice. Still not particularly sweat-inducing, though.

Looking for a good dosa for breakfast, I was recommended this place by Singaporean friend. In the heart of Little India. Cafe has operated since 1924. Nothing flash to look at but busy all the same. Masala thosia was excellent. Samosas were good too. Total bill for 2 Thosia, 2 samosas and two soft drinks was S$14. Bargain and the... More

I had idli, masala dosa and coffee twice in the space of a week here. Fairly good and quick and rices are reasonable too. The idli was especially good whereas the potato bhaji of the dosa was a bit below par. Coffee was good and a huge mug.

Located in India, opposite Mustafa centre, the Indian crowd never ceased to flow in, and getting a seat can be tough. Food quality if fairly ok, compared to other indian hotels around. serves 24 hours, which made us go twice since we were running late and the others had already closed!

Not so good. Poor service. The lady in the cash colunter wanted to give good service, however the south infisn guy with thick hair and mustache ruined the entire experience as his body language was if doing favor ;)

Great food but a few things were oily. Prices are competitive. Service is fast. Worth a visit. Lost one star just because of oily stuff in some items. Otherwise, a great joint. There is one in Little India and the other on Terminal 2 of Changi Airport.

Veggietarians delight and those not wanting to eat anything meat, this is the place for you. A bit small and tight in seating, yet value for money on food and drinks. We had the Tawa Chappathi set, Masala Thosai, Murtaba. All served pipping hot and in hearty portions that amongst 3 people could feed a family of 5. Delicious was... More

Although our trip to Singapore was relatively expensive, the only thing that was reasonably priced was the food. And this was the case with Ananda Bhavan too. We visited Little India to have a look at the Mustafa Centre and on the way back to our accommodation we came across Ananda Bhavan. Being a huge fan of curry, we decided... More

Staying in Little India

Neighborhood Profile
Little India
With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly colored saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colorful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Center, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colorful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.
