Description: Once a billiard hall, Bar & Billiard Room is today a bar that offers...
Once a billiard hall, Bar & Billiard Room is today a bar that offers some 400 hand-selected whiskies, with many limited editions and labels imported just for this establishment. Among them include ones from Scotland, Japan and the US. Lending its influence to the cocktail menu, the single malts have also gone on to inspire whisky-based beverages. On Fridays and Saturdays, live jazz performances offer a touch of old world glamour to the setting. Come Sunday, the champagne is popped and becomes an invaluable addition to the buffet brunch. Expect a spread featuring fresh seafood, cold cuts and signature carving favourites. Regarded as the oldest existing bar in its original location in Singapore, Bar & Billiard Room is an institution within Raffles Singapore. It occupies a standalone building built in 1896, and was the first in the country to have a lady bartender stirring up a storm in the 1920s. Inside, chandeliers hang down from the high ceiling and the floor tiles are replicas of the original. One of the five original billiard tables from the turn of the century can be found there, where guests are welcomed to play a round or two. Picture windows look out to the surrounding thick foliage, interrupted by elegant cast-iron frames that compose the terrace.

Went for the Sunday Brunch in July 2015 to celebrate a family birthday. With the included alcohol the cost per person was close to 200 dollars each, but having said that the day was fantastic and worth the cost. Staff were excellent and attentive keeping the slings, wine and champagne flowing. The food was fantastic particularly the giant sized scallops... More

This is my third time in twenty years, once more visiting for the obligatory Singapore Sling! Maybe it is my memory, or maybe my tastebuds have gone, but I remember the first one in 2007 tasted much better. Now they make it by the bucketload, (no longer the theatre of a cocktail shaker), and they sure know how to charge... More

Want to drink cocktails at Raffles, but want to avoid the tourist trap of the Long Bar. Well, then this is the place for you. Despite the protestations of the waiting staff that if this was our first time in Singapore, then we ought to go to the Long Bar, we stuck to our guns and were glad we did.... More

This is my second time for Sunday Brunch and it is the single best brunch I have ever had. The food is top grade and plenty full. Lobsters, scallops, oysters, prawns in endless supply. Carving stations for lamb chops, lamb loin, leg of lamb, filet mignonette, duck breadt, prime rib, Iberico pork ribs, Tom turkey with all the fixings. Baltic... More

Atmosphere, appetizers, presentation, & champagne were very nice. However, the carving station was not that great. Seafood on ice consisted of only lobster, shrimp, & oysters and both the lobster and shrimp were a tad over cooked, so it was hard and chewy. And to top it off--it was last call for drinks and friends were ordering other drinks which... More

Dear captainja52, Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. While I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the overall atmosphere and wide variety of food we have at our Sunday Brunch, I am disappointed to learn that your Sunday Brunch experience was not what the vast majority of our guests normally enjoy at Bar... I feel compelled to write as I had previously reviewed the Bar & Billiard Sunday brunch and rated it as five stars. We returned with friends last weekend and while the food remains as wonderful as before, they venue suffered from some extreme noise due to a function being held in a corner room that is only partially blocked off... After dinner entertainment playing pool with my son and daughter. Whilst the game is free, the Singapore Sling at $36 more than compensates for it. Funny how the superb environment and experience allows one to laugh off the absurd pricing!
