Colonial Treat

We treated ourselves to dinner in the Tiffin Room at Raffles as a special occasion. The iconic hotel is beautiful, with suggestions of its classy, colonial past, but the quality of its food and friendly,, efficient service is right up to date and superb. Like many people I have long had romantic notions of going to the Long Bar at Raffles Hotel and ordering a Singapore Sling. Unfortunately the hotel has turned this desire into a rather taudry tourist destination. Polite and immaculate staff guard the main entrance of the hotel and tourists are corralled round the side entrance and through the courtyard and... More

Visited this landmark Hotel. Wandered around it and eventually settled down in the Courtyard for a light lunch and a drink. Atmosphere was very good and not too busy. Plenty of waiting staff but they brought a 7-up instead of still water for my wife. Then after a little longer than we expected we got a mushroom bruschetta instead of... More

We meet up with family members in the Long Bar to have a Singapore Sling and a bite to eat. The service was friendly, the food is bar food which was very good and lots of it. There is a good atmosphere due to the fact that it is mostly tourists there to have a drink and eat some peanuts... More

This is a “must visit”. Thus the original bar isn’t open for public (only for hotel guests), the replacement is a reminder of the past, as it’s decorated in an old style. Order your drinks, peal peanuts and throw the shells on the floor! This is the place where the original “Singapore Sling” was made. The prices are high, but... More

One of the things you MUST do in Singapore is visit the Long Bar at the Raffles hotel - so you can warn other travelers NOT to go. It's a complete rip-off, the most ridiculously expensive sugary drinks (Singapore Slings, of course) pre-mixed out of sight, rubbish service - what a disappointment! Everyone who arrives in Singapore should be issued... More

A perfect place to enjog the original Singapore Sling cocktail. We could access the lobby thanks to our partner who stayed in the hotel. Otherwise you might have troubles trying to get inside.

I have been travelling here to Singapore since 1971 and have stayed may times at Raffles, and in fact three times over the past three months. Raffles Hotel really does look after you, nothing is to much trouble and the service and cuisine just superb. Staff remember your name and checking in was all completed within minutes and a Singapore... More

We decided to have lunch and a drink at the Longbar the service was slow we waited 15 minutes for our drinks and about 30 minutes for our lunch when we got our food my burger was cold I informed the staff member and asked her to take it back the same burger returned 5 minutes later with the burger... Worth going for the setting and atmosphere. Had a pleasant lunch (fresh stone baked pizzas). Would recommend as its a beautiful building and part of Singapore's heritage.
