The food is not that great but the story behind each food is interesting. You will get the chance to try out various favorite dishes from various sultan of yogyakarta. The location of the reataurant is in the palace compound, so it really feels like you're dining in the palace. But dont expect glam..it's just interesting..something different..it completes your journey... More

Famous but average food. Not worth the price and small portion. Ambiance is fine with traditional music from the speaker.

Went into this restaurant inside the Sultan Palace complex. Semi-Outdoor place makes this place less comfortable at noon. But the food was great, I tried the Bistik Lidah, it tasted very good! For drinks you can try Javanese Beer or Wedang Serai..

Went here for dinner, the restaurant is located at the rear of the Kraton. The restaurant is pretty nice, the foods are great, It said that all the menus are the Sultan's favorite meal and beverages. the only thing is that service time is sooooo loooong... 15-20 minutes to get our drinks, 30 minutes to get our starters (we ordered... Always love this place. Service was good, food was even better. I had the catfish roll, lamb stew, and some veggies. Authentic recipes that you won't find anywhere else. Price was very reasonable.

This time, I would like to share my lunch experience in one of the unique places in the Keraton's (Palace) area in Yogyakarta few months ago. We have heard about this restaurant since few years ago from a friend in Yogyakarta but we decided to visit it only few months ago. Since Bale Raos is not located in a main... More

I came here with my tour group for a Christmas evening meal. Balé Raos benefits from the elegant surroundings of the Sultan's Kraton. You enter the restaurant through almost a greenhouse area. During a break in the meal I had a look and there are nice water features, birds, fish and frogs in there, in amongst the plants. The décor... More

The food was not fresh, the taste is nothing to be desire, less than what they advertized. The only good thing is because of it's location.
