Large dinner menu, a bit pricey for Jakarta, but the place needs to be visited. The setting and live music is worth.

Located in the heart of the old city of Jakarta, this place offer a wonderful old time atmosphere of Jakarta. The building has colonial architecture and it's very well taken care off. The thing is we went there on Saturday night. The plaza right in front of it was so jammed packed with people who are just roaming around and... More

Colonial bar & restaurant in the old center of Jakarta. Live band playing in the evenings (ground floor). Authentic Indonesian food is delicious but overprized compared to other restaurants in town. It is worth visiting the place at least for drinking a coffee.

This place seems like the most popular restaurant in Jakarta for tourists. Actually the quality of food their not very high and not tasty. The price is high if compared with the other good places in Jakarta. Is enough just having a cup of coffee there.

We where there on a quiet, partly public holiday, Monday for lunch. So hardly traffic, noise and people. This was a good start for a wonderful Indonesian lunch with all the attention one can wish for. Food quality and quantity where good nothing more to ask for. From the window we could see all the activities taking place on the... More

The food looked a bit ordinary and pricey but for a place to escape the noise and smell of Jakarta this is hard to beat. Grab a cool drink beneath a whirring fan and listen to the swing band music or live jazz standards and you might think you are back in colonial days. You can sit on the 2nd... More

Our luncheon at the Café Batavia was a delightful treat. The menu is varied and includes many items that appeal to western taste buds as well as many Indonesian delights. I had the Norwegian salmon in a mild lemony sauce, which was cooked perfectly and included rice pilaf and asparagus. My husband had an Indonesian dish that included chicken sate,... More

The cafe has some laid back, old times atmosphere, with nice cool drinks, and a good way to end a trip through Kota, Jakarta. A fun thing are all the old pictures on the wall, and the beautiful decoration of the cafe. It's one of my favorite spot in Jakarta, which I visit at least once, every time I visit... More

I love this place for dinner whether I am with friends, business colleagues or just me and my thoughts. You can look out out over the square and see the families enjoying themselves together. The service is "relaxed". The food and wine list are good and the ambience is something to soak up and enjoy. Read up the story about... More

Unsurpsingly this tourist trap nestled in the central square is overpriced even though the food is perfectly acceptable quality, and it was nice to have poffartjes for once. We went midafternoon and were tortured by one of a range of probably-terrible and definitely too loud bands that they have playing in there -- check the stage before you order otherwise... More
