Rustic cafe

I like the rustic and charming interior decoration of this cafe. The food is various with standard taste and a bit pricey. This is nice place to rest after visiting old Jakarta.

A group of friends met up at the Cafe Batavia today for lunch. We had been in the area for a city tour and the guide took us to this place. The food had very small portions and didn't really taste that good. It was an interesting location. I am not sure I would go back just to have the... More

This place will take you back in time with all its wooden interior, the atmosphere, the pictures on the wall and the Frank Sinatra music on the background. Batavia was the name of the city given by the Dutch in the colonial time. From the window you have a great view on the historical square.

Positive: - A cool place to refresh after a stroll along the hot old town... - We went there on Sunday afternoon and there was a nice live band playing, it's not too crowded so we get seated directly... Negative: - Like most Indonesian places they treat International looking customers much better than the local looking ones... - Overpriced food... More

Love the building and photos, photos, photos. I a Ways fee I have gone back to a different era here. Ask for a table by the window where the endlessly changing activities in the square are intriguing. Cocktails are great, food is beautifully presented and delicious, service is attentive. We always bring visitors here...worth the sometimes lengthy teksi ride to... More

Visiting Jakarta and not visit Cafe Batavia is like going to France and not seeing Eiffel Tower. It's a Cafe, traditional in downtown. The food is not amazing but service is good

The location is in the heart of Colonial Jakarta----old Dutch buildings dating 200 to 250 years ago. The food was fine, the beverages cold, the view overlooking the crowded plaza ( it was Sunday) was nice. Our highlight was visiting their famously haunted toilet---alas no ghost and no toilet paper.....
