Classical Cafe in an Attractive Time Warp

This establishment enjoys a prime location on the edge of Fatahilla Square. It has been there for over a century and, while is excellent condition, it simply oozes the charm of a bygone era. There are photos, mainly black and white, of many famous people on the walls of the stairs. Perhaps most of... read more

Located in Kota Tua (Old Town) district of Jakarta, this place brings you back to Jakarta in Batavia-era. The vintage feeling is so strong in this place. The food is also quite good, although the price is a bit high. But you'll think it's worth it. The only downside is the outside of building is filled with people and street... More

Batavia (name of the Jakarta city during Dutch colonial days) restaurant is in the Old Town Square which was the thriving centre of administrative and commercial activities during Dutch Colonial days. Restaurant is housed a historic building itself and has recreated the grandeur of the colonial days in its interior. They serve excellent continental food. A place worth its visit... More

I've read that Cafe Batavia is one of the must see places when one visits Jakarta. The cafe sits at the corner of Fatahillah Square and it is a quaint place to sit back, have a sip of drink, and relax while watching the day's activities at the square. Food tastes average, a bit pricey one might say-- I spent... More

It is not 5-star-hotel dining, but the food is good. Menu is eclectic and satisfies western and Asian tastes. The advantage and disadvantage of Cafe Batavia is its location. It is in charming old Jakarta, and if you are up that way, you should make an effort to eat at Cafe Batavia. And the building itself is a charming relic... More

It's a nice place filed with history I suggest to go only if you happen to be in the neighborhood. It took me more than 2 hours from the hermitage. The uber driver didn't know the place & after he asked drove an additional 20 mins to bring us by an incredibly long detour just next to where we had... More

Really nice historic place but over priced. Great drinks, decent food, and excellent atmosphere. Good place to beat the hear in JKT.

I was strongly recommended by the local guide to try out Cafe Batavia while explaining why is the town named Batavia over high tea. The place is well decorated with vintage themes and the two stories cafe provide lots of awesome menus, such as photo frame on the wall where you can take off and read the dessert menu. (PS:... The food was quite good here but what made it memorable was the style and ambiance. Designed to look like a colonial era club, it has large rooms, ceiling fans and wooden shutters. Lots of atmosphere. Shamelessly adorned with photos of celebrities who have been there. It was packed when we were there on a weekend, which may have been... More
