Walk through the front doors and step back in time. Much of the ambiance is pre world war two.The ground floor is a restaurant of quite amazing quality, while the first floor is a bar and restaurant area. The walls are literally covered with old photo's and pictures of pre war movie stars and royalty and even Winston Churchill. The art extends... Nice place showing historic architecture and colonial atmosphere. The menu offered is good but the quality of the dishes served is a disappointment. Food is at best on the Average.

After an enjoyable ride in the new City Tour bus that gave us a snapshot of some of Jakarta tourist places, we proceeded to Kota to look at the plaza and have lunch at Cafe Batavia. I thought it was just one of those restos in an old antique house. But what I saw upon entering floored me!! It is... More

I´ve seen many pros et contras of Café Batavia but I must say, that I liked the place. It might be on the expensive side ( for Jakarta), but compared to other places where tourists gather, it wasn´t all that bad. Service was fast, effective and polite. I tried the traditional Indonesian cuisine - Nasi Campor "Meneer", and It was... More

Beautiful and comfortable restaurant. Downstairs good for a cool drink. Upstairs a great restaurant with nice open air view over the former dutch town hall. Fantastic flower arrangements and pictures of moviestars, celebrities and Dutch royals.

Cafe Batavia located downtown Jakarta is a must for first time visitors, the place has been around for a long time and has seen many famous visitors through their doors, at least drop by and admire the hundreds of pictures on the wall depicting many famous faces, for the service it's rather quick, the menu comes in local bahasa and... I first stopped by a few years ago on a weekday during Ramadan and the place was nearly empty. A good thing as after I saw the prices, I just wandered around and took all kinds of pictures. The staff did not seem to care as again, it was Ramadan and they did not stop me. However, you probably won't... More

A taste of the past. Step back into history with a beer in the Churchill Bar or a meal in this wonderful atmospheric colonial gem and feel proud to be European. A haven of tranquillity an refinement in the congested and ugly slum city of Jakarta.

It was a vintage restaurant. Food not so expensive but not good at all. With mosquitoes everywhere. Most of the money we spent went to the decoration but not the food.

This is an authentic building from Old Batavia era - which now called Jakarta. Experience the nice classic old Batavia ambiance . The food is good but not extra ordinary outstanding. I recommend you go for dinner in the 2nd floor. it's more classy than the 1st Floor.
