I'm rating this restaurant four stars for the look and the ambience. I'm giving it three stars for the price and quality of food. First up, the ambience. This restaurant has an authentic vintage look that will make you feel like you've travelled back to the 1930s. Since we were there for dinner, it added more drama to the experience.... More

the restaurant is located in Jakarta's old town. the interiors would give you a feeling that you stepped back in time. a very picturesque place. they have a wide variety of food to choose from - both western and asian cuisine. the service is fine. the price is commensurate on the taste and ambiance of the place.

I came back to the Cafe Batavia for the second time this May. The authentic atmosphere of the place makes you travel back in time. The Kopi Jawa or Kopi Luwak are great. However, the food was pretty average and a bit overprice, but I guess that's worth it for the atmosphere.

Off the main square in Jakarta's old town, this café/restaurant is decorated in an American style, evoking 30s through to the 50s. The menu has Western and Asian content. All the food and drinks were great, if expensive for Jakarta... Still cheap by European standards! You get the impression that, for the locals, this is a very stylish place to... More

Went there during my trip to old town Batavia and had lunch there. Very artistic ambience and great Indonesian cuisine. No wonder it's one of the famous restaurant in Indonesia.

Had a guided tour of downtown Jakarta, why? Because I had a day to kill on a big Indonesian tour. Jakarta was our first stop. It took over 2 hours to get to downtown Jakarta. It's not the most exciting downtown, but Cafe Batavia was a cool, jazzy spot to shake off the exhaust fumes that filled up your lungs... More

This place is a must visit. Harks back to old colonial days with verandas, ceiling fans and panelling. You could spend days just looking at all the old posters and pictures. The erotica in the loos could keep you occupied for a while too! Loads of style and fun. No drama with food and service either. Downstairs a live band... More
