This a great restaurant to try a variety of Indonesia dishes in one location. The decor is great with beautiful statues and carvings along with traditional artwork. There is room for big groups but there are also plenty of quiet areas to relax and converse with whoever you are dining with. The clientelle is a mix between ex-pat westerners, Jakarta... More

A lovely odl house turned into a Restaurant/museum. A great place to go with your partner, your friends or for a business lunch/dinner. The food is good, lots of choice. There are many rooms which give you some privacy and comfort. The team is attentive. Antics are also exposed which add some more attractions to the place.

Designed in a very old Javanese atmosphere, Lara Djonggrang offers a real historic Java in central Jakarta. Come in the non-peak hours and ask the waitress/manager to have a tour from room to room... Wonderful restaurant on all dimensions: delicious food, striking decor, good service, and not a killer price either. Why the "careful" in the title? MyFilipina wife chomped down on one of the large chillis and was in agony: to shy to spit it out and too scared to swallow it. There was no sugar at the table so she suffered until... More

Indonesian friends suggested we meet at Lara Djonggrang. It was a good suggestion. The décor features a mixture of Chinese and Javanese carvings and other art work. The place was fairly full on a Saturday night, but not noisy. We ate inside; the seem to be other venues beyond the door of the main dining room. Our friends had made... More
