This is a wonderful location under an enormous old fig tree and the restaurant is full of antiques- like its brother restaurant, Dapu Babar, in Jalan Veteran 3. The service is fine. But the food was very ordinary and simply not worth the money. I must admit that an earlier visit to this restaurant the food was much better. What... More

My friends and I were looking for some authentic Indonesian cuisine and our concierge suggested Lara....and I'm glad they did. Where to begin, the restaurant is quite an eclectic place, with all sorts of rooms and really cool lanterns in the banyan tree outside. Food is pricy for Indonesia, but well well well worth it. The ox tongue satay was... More

I was taken to this restaurant by a co-worker who is Indonesian and from Jakarta--and she arranged for everything. The meal was in the top 10 meals I have ever eaten. There were about 12 of us, and we were seated in a private room--and then the dishes started coming. There were flavors and spices I never had tried before,... More

My host in Djakarta took me here to have Authentic Indonesia food. The restaurant was a lovely ambient, with lots of Indonesian art and statues, etc. presumably all authentic. The food was a crab meat dish somewhat like an omelet accompanied by a salad of cucumbers, spinach, green beans and other veggies, with a great peanut sauce. I truly enjoyed... More

To be honest, the food here was spectacularly presented but did not taste great. The chewiest beef rendang, whatever the opposite is to melt in the mouth, complex but not particularly tasty rijstafel, all in a slightly grumpy atmosphere. The building is really nice, but the whole experience could do with a facelift, it has great potential so I wish them... More

Probably one of the best Rendang Padang I have ever tasted while being in Indonesia. The location itself is worth a visit, being like a museum with a 200 year old tree in front of the house. Will definitely visit again.

I really love the decor of this restaurant even though it can be quite eery especially near the way to toilet there. Food wise, great, nice presentation, great services. Prices can be quite expensive comparing to all other restaurant. However to be able to dine in here is a great experience even for a local Indonesian.

Was here with a sizeable group of local colleagues and got a pre-determined menu which was incredibly tasty. Somewhere along the line, my colleagues forgot to mention that that thing that looked like a shrimp was in fact a chili pepper and I nearly expired (much to the hilarity of said colleagues) Service is very attentive and the ambiance very...
