Mediterranean Cuisine on the HongKong beach

We liked the way the restaurant was facing the beach, it's big terrace and colourful interior in blue and orange. it's ambience-very relaxed and friendly. It was a nice surprise to find lamb chops, chorizo and other Mediterranean dishes on the menu- felt like coming back to Paphos or... read more

Had to be worst meal ever had in HKG. The toughest sirloin steak if it was sirloin I have ever had. The other quest steak tough as old boot. Goodness hard to spoil a good steak The rest of the party meals below average. No wont be going back in a hurry. Dolla need to sort your kitchen out.

I love The Stoep even more now that is has moved back from the beach a little. The ambience is calm and the staff are competent and friendly. I was slightly indecisive about what to order and was recommended the bobotie, a South African dish I hadn't eaten before. It was one of the best meals I've ever eaten! The... More

From the minute you arrive, the friendly ambience and fabulous South African cuisine, you know todayis going to be a good day! Prepare for a long "lekker" day with friend and family. The drinks are cheap and you can eat "braai" chops and Malva pudding, homemade boerewors and Dolla's famous South African seed loave bread!

This casual beachfront restaurant is a welcome change from urban Hong Kong. Tasty dips, breads, Mediterranean and South African dishes are a delight. We had a wide selection amongst our party and all were well pleased. A convenient #11 bus ride from the Tung Chung MTR stop. Off the beaten path and worth the trip.

Combine a spacious white sand beach with a beautiful view of the South China Sea, a restaurant terrace open to the beach, a small rural village set in an island atmosphere that feels much farther than the roughly 20 kilometers separating you and urban Hong Kong, then bake under the sub-tropical sun and season with sea breezes. What do you... More

I'm South African. I love my food. As such, I was really looking forward to going to this restaurant. And to be fair, the food was decent, but not nearly as good as I expected. I ordered the fish and chips (a Cape Town staple) and the fish was undercooked and the chips were way too oily. Thankfully, the other... More

Let's be generous and say that the bread they make is great.... let's stop there. Food is ok, not bad just ok. sangria is too sweet. But the caveat is the service, lack thereof, are they over worked, under paid, under staffed, maybe but the attitude could certainly use a happy pill. My take... bunch of single moms who had... I have been visiting the Stoep on and off for over 12 years. When I first went it was actually run by South Africans and the food was excellent. It was then sold and taken over by people who tried to live off the reputation but they bought cheap and, quite frankly, inedible meat. It went seriously down hill and... More

Location is great (right on the beach etc.), but we found the Stoep to be over-rated. Food was good (no complaints at all and we had a good meal) but there is a fair amount of hype around the restaurant being brilliant, which is probably OTT and our expectations didn't match what we had heard. To be clear, we had... More
