Great al fresco South African restaurant & well worth the journey to South Lantau.

Now re-open in a location slightly back from the beach. Great sea views & a unique garden feel with shaded tables, water features & the same great South African food as always.

A true surprise to discover a South African restaurant in Hong Kong! I happened upon a reference while searching for good beaches to visit, and decided to make a trip out there. A must for every home sick South African like myself. The Bobotie was unbelievable, and the "Tomato Bredie" is phenomenally tender and tasty. The Boerewors tastes even better... More

Had another great lunch on the stoep at The Stoep! Nice water views and to die for SA braaivlies (bbq meat from the grill). Cooked perfectly with a nice bottle of Kanonkop Kadette Rose. This restaurant is not to be missed!!! Oh, and dont forget the bobotie! Malva pudding with ice cream is the perfect ending to an amazing meal!... More

New home for an old favorite---but they still get it right. I've read the reviews below and will only say that if you're not happy with what you see, eat or order here then all you need to do is say something. We have been many, many times, both in the afternoon and evening, and always been greeted with a... More

We were initially disappointed that the restaurant is no longer on the beach. However the setting is still quite pretty but it no longer has the advantage that the children can play in the sand whilst the adults finish their drinks! However the service reminded us of something from Faulty Towers. Nobody appeared to be in charge and we waited... More

The Stoep has now moved a few yards along the beach, and the new setting and decor are delightful - very "tropical paradise".. Food is excellent, and a good selection of wines and cheerful friendly and attentive service. All made for a most enjoyable evening.

We liked the way the restaurant was facing the beach, it's big terrace and colourful interior in blue and orange. it's ambience-very relaxed and friendly. It was a nice surprise to find lamb chops, chorizo and other Mediterranean dishes on the menu- felt like coming back to Paphos or Torremolinos-the seaside, the view, the patrons-mainly expats-everything resembled Southern Europe. I love The Stoep even more now that is has moved back from the beach a little. The ambience is calm and the staff are competent and friendly. I was slightly indecisive about what to order and was recommended the bobotie, a South African dish I hadn't eaten before. It was one of the best meals I've ever eaten! The... More

From the minute you arrive, the friendly ambience and fabulous South African cuisine, you know todayis going to be a good day! Prepare for a long "lekker" day with friend and family. The drinks are cheap and you can eat "braai" chops and Malva pudding, homemade boerewors and Dolla's famous South African seed loave bread!
