Not an American Style Restaurant

Don't get fooled by it's name, this is NOT an American food place. This is what I have found to be a typical Chinese restaurant. Great Chinese food, Very good and unique service. Great price-value. Best Peking style duck I have ever had. The waiter (maybe the owner/house comedian) made like... read more

This place is like an institution in Hong Kong. It has not changed since it opened 40 years ago, but it doesn't have to as it is great. The venue is decent, the staff is very friendly and one of them was even making jokes with me in English (which we doesn't happened often in Hong Kong). The food is... More

I first visited this restaurant 20 years ago but had not visited for past 10 years. The decor and interior were much as I remembered but if anything, the food was far better. The Peking duck was fantastic as were the sizzling king prawns. We also ordered the eggplant with mince pork and peppered squid which were heavenly too. Along... More

Its hard to remember the food because we were left with such a bad taste in our mouth by our waitstaff. After we paid the server started to tell us "tip! tip!" I asked to see the bill (because I suspected that the service charge was included in the bill). He wouldnt let us see the bill and stood and... More

Was totally amazed by how bad the service in this place was. So, we're western and the only westerners in there. We're ushered in given a drinks menu and a (one) food one. Waiter opens the drinks menu and presses his finger down on their most expensive wine, err no - we'll choose ourselves thanks. Then ask for a 2nd... More

Noisy, sloppy and better than most for Peking duck. It doesn't come close to Da Dong in Beijing, but what does?

Note that this restaurant has two listing, this one ranked 309 of 4,606, and also as American Peking Food Restaurant ranked 1,087 of 4,606. Traditional older HK style, noisy, waiters can appear surly but are really efficient, and food well above average. Previously mainly frequented by local residents, but now increasingly by tourists and business folk. Nevertheless well worth a... More

I ate dinner here one evening whilst staying in the Wanchai district of Hong Kong Island and was glad I did as the food and the restaurant delivered a real authentic Chinese experience. When I arrived the restaurant was busy with a large group of local Chinese diners celebrating a guys 60th Birthday (about 40+ relatives and friends) which made... More

Don't be fooled by the name of this iconic Wan Chai restaurant. Though this is my first review of the establishment, our family and friends have patronized this Hong Kong Chinese food gem for over 33 years without a disappointment. Definitely reserve a table and order special dishes like Peking Duck or Beggars Chicken when booking. Additional perennial favorites are... More

A local friend of mine brought me to this place and i loved the duck here. They serve cucumber very thick but other than that it is near perfect place for original pecking duck!

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
