Extremely disappointing lunch

Decor was great. Ambience perfect. Service is what you would expect out of a Michelin restaurant. All but the food. From their amuse bouche down to petit fours, they were all disappointing. Decor was great. Ambience perfect. Service is what you would expect out of a Michelin restaurant. All but the food. From their amuse bouche down to petit fours, they were all disappointing. No doubt the chef had picked the best ingredients in the market. The uni came extremely fresh, the scallop’s texture was just beautiful, their beef quality top-notch. Unfortunately... More

Went for lunch and had the set degustation menu. Everything was fantastic. It is a two-star restaurant after all. A must have is the Hokkaido Sea Urchin.

My wife and I went for my birthday dinner. Apparently they will do something special of you tell them it's your birthday but we didn't do that. We ordered a set meal for two. The service was excellent, the food was unequalled in our experience and even the cheap (!) wine was tasty and satisfying. Also the seating positions are... More

Having been there before I reserved it for a special birthday dinner and it actually exceeded my expectations. The tables are widely spread so that you do not have to avoid listening to the conversation of others (unless they are the sort of crude diners who would not usually choose this restaurant anyway). The seats are comfortable, an essential if... More

For elegant surroundings, exceptional service and superb food, look no further than Amber at the Landmark Mandarin. Generally speaking any restaurant of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel group is of high standard and I should know because I have been a guest at their Tokyo, Miami, and Paris hotel. Amber is a class act. We had the signature sea urchin dish... More

Location: Right above the Central MTR station. Reception: Warm, Friendly, Professional Staff: Helpful, welcoming, warm. They know when to leave you alone, and when to offer assistance. Food: You pay for quality. Can't describe the feeling in just words. You have to experience it. However, the desserts were just awesome. More awesome than the food. Price: It is not cheap.... More

We had the perfect evening in the amber (27.2.2015). Outstanding food, excellent service, wonderful wine list, etc. For me this is at least a two star Michelin! That's said, it was not cheap at all but definitely worth the price. Thank you!

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
