Something's missing

My friends and I have been to quite a good number of high-end venues for high tea (The Dorchester and Claridge's in London, Ritz Paris and Empress Hotel in Victoria to name a few) and The Lobby at the Peninsula in Kowloon ranks among them. The service, the tea offerings, the teaware and... read more

The tea is amazing but when I went there for my second visit for lunch, I wan't quite as amazed as I was at the first time.

My wife and I treated our two kids and a special friend to the afternoon tea menu at the Lobby of the Peninsula in Hong Kong. What an amazing treat! It wasn't cheap, but the quality of the food was worth every penny. The afternoon tea starts at 2:00 every afternoon. I would recommend coming at 1:30 and enjoy the... More

Top tip - get there before lunch time. We arrived around 11.45am, and there were plenty of seats and no queues!! Second top tip - make sure any men are wearing closed in shoes! My husband was turned away for wearing open toe (smart leather - not thongs) shoes (luckily we were staying at the YMCA next door and he... More

Taking a 4-course birthday dinner featuring decent dishes in an environment that blends the classic, elegance of The Lobby's décor with the ever-present live music was a pre-birthday treat to my dearest husband. The dessert was a little surprise because we are not a fan of sweet. Hence, the lovely birthday cake had to go home with us!

A tourist must see and if you can afford it, a must stay. The peninsula defines Hong Kong, past, present and future. High tea is on par with any in the world's best hotels. The hotel has reinvented itself to serve the world's most influential travellers and wealthy locals. A number of great chefs have interned here. An iconic institution... More

I wasn't staying at the Peninsula so couldn't book a table for tea. Those that aren't staying can queue for a table from 1.30pm onwards, the tables being available from 2pm. I got there at 1.20pm on a Monday and was 3rd in the queue. By 1.45pm there were around 30 people in the queue. By 1.53pm I was shown... More

We popped in too early for high tea, but decided to have an early lunch with champagne in the lobby of The Peninsula. Not only did we tick something off our bucket list but the experience was beyond our expectations. We were placed at a table in by the main door to the hotel - plenty to look at!!! Our... More

Good for high tea. Fits nicely in a Kowloon side visit. Better to try it off pick hours (early or just when it is about to close) to avoid long line.
