if you like Japanese food this place is brilliant. I did have the advantage of going with a friend who is a regular but from the service to the food the place could not be faulted. Its a bit of an oasis of peace in Central where all around outside are bars with a lot of 80s music blaring out.......not... More

Food was great, the filleted beef was particularly good, as were the grilled scallops. Atmosphere on a Friday evening is rowdy/drunken after work business folk, don't expect a romantic vibe if you're going on a date (might be fine mid-week). Service,..awful. Waiter was pushy, abrupt, rude and arrogant. Didn't give out drinks menus but demanded to know what drinks we... More

We arrived without a reservation and they proceeded to sit us at the counter (which was ok). Other groups came in before us and got served right away without a reservation. In the end we got sick of the s&$@! attitude and bad vibes and got up and left. For the price they charge and (let's be honest) there are... More

I stopped in Tokio Joe after walking up and down the Central steps and escalators so was pretty hungry by the time I got there. The service overall was fine, except I never got the miso soup that was supposed to come with my meal. Order of veggie sushi + one tuna roll and a small beer was around 57... More

Had dinner here on last Friday with two other friends. Very easy to find - located at the right side of the small lane opposite Hard Rock Café at LKF. It's quite a cosy restaurant so not very well lit, as a matter of fact. Hence, not very pleasing to us! Fortunately, the food were mouth-watering; fresh and in absolute... More

Our five point review: 1. Expensive! Four rolls cost us nearly US$125! 2. Smallest portions ever received at a sushi restaurant - one roll was four pieces, each piece was half the size of a regular piece 3. Pretty tasteless - with the exception of the spicy tuna roll, the others were dried cooked pieces of fish with a 3-grain... More

We went there for dinner tonight and we feel really disappointed with Kyoto Joe, which is actually the name they show at the entrance, menu, etc. We arrived at 20:00 and were asked if we had a reservation, we hadn't. Then conduced to 2nd floor to a freezing cold table near the window. Since we follow tripadvisor advices very often... More

Sat at the sushi counter on both dinner occasions to watch the action. Enjoyed the famous spicy toro salad - though it may feel overwhelming at first! The deluxe sashimi set is good as well. Hot dishes were a letdown but that's okay, its not easy for a small place to do everything perfectly. Environment reminds me of a local... More

A sashimi you don't see in restaurants typically. Clean of fat and pure joy. They should have called the place Tokio Joy. Go there when you're in LKF.
