Great service and food. Mackerel starter - great flavours...

Went to the Principal for their lunch menu - actually not bad value given the fact it's a two star Michelin place (1500 HKD for two including three courses each and two glasses of bubbles). Staff were very friendly, very quick to serve and eager to talk about the place, food and threw in a few... read more

Was there for dinner, food doesn't even up to fine dining standard. Taste is so-so. Service is good. I will give 3/10 for value for money. Will definately not dine here again.

Food is like what you would expect from such restaurant. However, portion is pathetical small. We literally went next door to have another meal after finishing the lunch set.

During my 4 weeks in Hong Kong and Japan, The Principal, gave me the best dining experience. Had a truly magical evening there - every dish that was put in front of me took me by surprise - and I wanted to lick every plate and the staff are top class. Ate there 2 years ago and it was an incredible, memorable experience. Went back last night and it has really changed for the worse. Uninspired food, robotic and dis-engaged service, horrible value for money. Had an 8 or 9 course degustation and 4-5 of the courses were totally unremarkable (one was a broth, presented in a bag, that was indistinguishable... More

OK. I went on May1 which was a bad idea because the chef was probably on leave but a 2 star Michelon should close for the day if it cannot maintain standards. However, it's major failures are associated with serviceas well as food. I had been twice before in large groups for packaged food and had given it the benefit... More

Do you like plain, uninteresting food with bland flavours served by disinterested staff in drab surroundings? If so, you will love it here. I didn't realize that restaurants had to pay for their Michelin stars; that may explain why a meal here is eye-wateringly expensive. Do not fall into the trap of the Emporer's New Clothes; Pizza Express is only... More

We had a business lunch for 8. There were more staff then customers and the table looked good. That's as good as it gets! Then the service started and what could go wrong did go wrong. Food arrived at the table at different times, presented incorrectly and to the wrong individuals, one main course was completely wrong. The food was... More

This is michellin 2star hotel which I've marked for so long. I booked this restaurant during HK restaurant wk (it's a local events held twice each year to select bunch of restaurants for promotio- for fan's tasing at relatively cheap price). The Principal is the only 2star Michellin restaurant in this year event. Unlike other restaurants provided $198 for 3... More

Please note that through a coincidence I had become well acquainted with some people in the group's management and for this reason had found out that they only operated something which the manager modestly called "a rather good restaurant" ! A 2 Michelin star restaurant! This relationship helped by providing exceptional service: we arrived later than reserved and had to... More
