Literally, the BEST BURGER in the world. Slapping some hot English mustard on there is a MUST -- this burger is to die for and I constantly think about it wherever I am in the world. The Indian curry dishes are also excellent. The English-inspired food is ok, but then again, I don't know what good English food is supposed... More

To make sure this is in context I'm a big fan of the Mandarin in Hong Kong - its a great hotel and the various restaurants are usually very good and the service is always top drawer. So when Mrs O had the family in town we needed somewhere nice to eat both International and Indian food and The Chinnery... More

I do love this place on occasions when you want to kick back in the very rare moments that I want to remind myself of all thing England. Classy and small this very small pub or "snug" is always busy and has many regulars. Food is good, standard, gastropub fare and it consistently well delivered. However, you can't help but... More

If you could only choose one restaurant to dine for the rest of your days, The Chinnery would be right up there. If only you didn't have to rock up at 11.30am just to have a hope of securing a lunch table!

This is quintessentially British. Absolutely top- notch decor, so cosy an oasis far from main stream metropolis pedestrian Hong Kong, a perfect Englishman's club to be in, with rich mahogany panelled walls, soft lighting, rich carpet, newspaper and magazines abound, indeed an exclusive hide away for a casual, quiet dinner. Seasoned old-timer staff in white dinner jackets, present a comprehensive... More

I came here for a quiet business dinner last night. The service is impeccable and it is a great venue for an informal business dinner. We shared the Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Tikka which were good but by no means definitive. That said the whole package really works and the place oozes character.

The Chinnery occupies a discrete corner of the first floor at the Mandarin Oriental. The classic English gentlemen's bar is dressed in mahogany timber panelling, plush carpet and luxurious leather furnishings. The service and the food is above standard. We ordered a prawn cocktail, chicken tandoori, garlic naan and a calamari. The dishes burst with flavor with the exception of... More

A slice of colonial food history. If you fancy stepping back in time and enjoying excellent food then the Chinnery is the place for you. Panelled walls, English classic food and exceptional curries. As a Mandarin restaurant the staff are charming, welcoming and friendly. The food is delicious.

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
