Named after the famous British artist George Chinnery, The Chinnery enjoys a relaxed club-like atmosphere with deep upholstered armchairs, green leather banquettes and warm wood panelling. Offering a laid-back alternative to our fine dining restaurants, The Chinnery specialises in traditional British cuisine with classic dishes such as bangers and mash, fish and chips, and steak and ale pie available for lunch and dinner. Home to one of the world's largest collections of single malt whiskies, The Chinnery has over 100 varieties for guests to try. We also serve chilled draft beer in custom-made silver tankards by a veteran staff who know many guests by name.

Great food in great hotel

This is a restaurant I've been frequenting for years now and it has never, ever disappointed. The food here is truly excellent. A good place for business lunch/dinner in a small group. Good British food and excellent atmosphere. The chicken curry and Shepherds pie are really good. Lamb was a bit too dry for my taste.

A friend of ours who lives in HK knew we would be delighted to try UK cuisine after being away for so many years thus they took us to the Chinnery. And we were for the most part. Intimate seating , wooden panels and carpeting made for a wonderful ambiance. The menu appealed to us and I chose Shepherds pie... More

After a long cruise I was tired and in need of some decent food. I flicked through tripadvisor and read the reviews on here and wandered over for an early evening meal. I was not disappointed, the Tikka was phenomenal and the naan perfectly cooked. Just what the doctor ordered. Staff are great, décor is beautiful, the food is amazing... More

The Chinnery has been one of my favourite eateries for over 20 years and it never fails to delight. Just 20 seats and a few places at the bar, it's intimate and an oasis of calm in the maelstrom of central Hong Kong. There's a timeless quality about the place, reminiscent of a London dining club and the menu contributes... More

While the Mandarin Oriental as a hotel has changed over the years and, in my view, lost a little of its character, I was delighted to find that The Chinnery is unchanged, preserving a special sort of British quality which can seldom be found in Britain itself. The service was faultless, as was the food, the only possible criticism being... More

If you dont get this level of ambience, service and food at an extravagant restaurant in a 5 star hotel, it would wrong. I have had lunch several times. It is OK. Plain ok. Not outstanding at all buy perfectly in line with what you would expect from a British Indian resto / bar at a nice hotel.

The Chinnery is the haunt you need to go to when you are in the mood of sipping off a glass of Scotch or well aged port over some nuts, under the gaze of dead, white male hung on the walls. This commentator must confess that he is in said mood at least a few times a month. While the... More

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
