Excellent Chinese / Cantonese food. But 2 stars, really ?

The restaurant room is located in the underground floor of Mandarin Oriental. Very classic Chinese hotel decor, somewhat outdated and impersonal to my taste. The food menu is mainly about set menus. Suitably dressed for an elegant evening of fine dining, we booked a table early, and arrived at the Shang Palace. The interiors were evocative of old world China - dollops of red and gold motifs, ornate statues and fittings. A tad over the top. Though we were recommended it's signature dishes such as Braised Bird’s Nest with Pumpkin Cream and... More

I wished to share my enjoying experience last month at Shang Palace with especially fellow solo business travellers like me. Generally, the problem with Chinese fine dining for solo diner is how many dishes one should order and can consume/finish. The Chef here offers several dinner sets available per head (some restaurants require minimum two persons per order, not here)... More

It was a last minute decision to go and I am so glad we did. Other Chinese restaurants in Kowloon can sometimes disappoint, but Shang Palace was truly outstanding. In keeping with everything at the Shangri-La, the service was first class and wonderfully attentive. Décor is as you would expect in such a restaurant, but to my taste, just bit... More

I had a dim sum lunch and chose about six different dishes to see the quality level across familiar standards (shiu mai; har gau) and some that are common but offered scope for showing a higher class treatment if it was going to be used (for example, low pak ko or cheung fun). All of the dishes were perfectly pleasant... More

We enjoyed dinner at Shang Palace (香宮) on Mar 7, 2015 ! Especially for the "Mixed vegetable hot Casserole (雜菜煲)", it was really delicious! Each vegetable was pre-cooked first and mixed other ingredients & proper content of sauce all together to cook in the casserole. This was great surprise to me as this simple dish was served extremely the best... More

Great food, service, atmosphere. Very interesting menu. Can spend lots of money if you order some of the exotic offerings, but can dine very well as there are numerous reasonably priced items. Not many Chinese restaurants with such a high rating -- and well deserved.

I was staying at the hotel and decided to give Shang Palace's dim sum a try. The service was great and the food divine, perhaps one of the best dim sums I've ever had. Fairly cheap too. Totally recommend

Had a set Michelin-awarded dinner for two and all the dishes were marvelous! However, as a Chinese restaurant, the atmosphere can be noisy most of the time! Kowloon Shangri-La is definitely one of the most outstanding property in Kowloon side, and their restaurants are always top-notch!
