My family had, again, a delicious and enjoyable dim sum lunch at the Shang Palace last Saturday. We were greeted with warm smiles and helping hands for my mother in her wheel chair. The quality of the pu'er Chinese black tea was good (not just taste, but for digestion). There is no longer any need for me to introduce its... More

Had a very good dim sum lunch in this opulently decorated restaurant, but I'd be hard-pressed to recommend it over some other less swank and less expensive alternatives.

Having read some of the previous reviews for the Shang Palace I was hesitant to try it. However, we were staying in the Shangri-La and wanted Peking Duck so decided to give it a try. Given it has two Michelin stars - how bad could it be? I am so glad we gave it a chance. It is housed in... More

Came here with a bunch of friends for lunch on the weekend. Extremely opulent and luxurious surroundings, with helpful and attentive staff (even escorted to the bathroom!) The setting was lovely, and the lunchtime dim sum menu had a variety of traditional dishes with a twist. I did feel it was quite average and none of the dishes really stood... More

This 2 Michelin star restaurant is nestled within the lower lobby area of the Shangri La hotel. With a cosy den like feel, the dining area is elegant with opulent red and gold ornate decor, carved wooden screens, tapestries hanging from the walls and glittering chandeliers. Delicious food with a modern touch given to authentic Cantonese cuisine, especially with the... More

It was very hard to get a table in Hong Kong for Valentine's Day dinner. All restaurants demanded a deposit, no à la carte available etc. etc. Shan Palace made an exception and offered à la carte without a deposit. And as we were also guests at Kowloon Shangri-La, it was so easy to go for a dinner. Everything we... More

We booked this restaurant whilst staying at the Shangri La hotel in which it resides. We had great expectations, which were not diminished by the decor as we went in. That's as good as it got. Luke warm whitebait, in a greasy, soft tempura batter as an appetiser; reasonable duck with pancakes that were far too floury; Chinese style beef... More

As you walk in the decor of the restaurant sets up wonderful evening. The waiters are very helpful. The menu offers wide variety of food, the set menu is pretty good that gives the variety and enough of each portion to ensure you are full by the end of the evening. I have been a regular customer of Shang Palace Restaurant at the Kowloon Shangri-la Hotel since 1997 and have witnessed its transformation from a good restaurant to an excellent dining palace for both family dining and business entertainment purposes. It excels in its superb cuisine variety, quality, and presentation - traditional, always fresh, heathy (low sodium and right quantity of... More

Don't go to this restaurant expecting Western style Chinese food, this is the real McCoy. Our waiter was extremely helpful in helping us make informed choices.
