I was in town for a couple of nights alone ahead of a business trip. Having stayed in Wanchai, I alreadyI knew there was decent nightlife and plenty of places to eat / drink and visit, but I had not previously seen Joe Bananas. Wondering around the blocks from my hotel, to get my bearings, I came across Joe B's... More

I am surprised by your review as you recommend lkf. Lkf is a younger more drunk crowd. While Wanchai is aimed at an older market. I would be interested in your views of Graffiti in Lkf More

Visited as part of a group celebrating a friend's birthday. It was fairly late when I was there, midnight onwards, and it was a public holiday the following day so it was pretty busy. The band were great and the dance floor was full. The prosecco was reasonably priced but wasn't the best tasting. It wasn't a big issue though.... More

Had to kill an Hour while I waited for a friend to finish work. This place was quiet and had the TV sport channel on. Beer was really cold which was great. Quiet surroundings which was what I was after. After one beer I left. There were a few older guys with younger friends which made me worried. Beer was... More

Refurnished and rejuvenated, JB's is a good looking bar with great staff that made a real difference; attentive, friendly and smiling! Good live music kicked off around 9pm and decent quality. Room to dance or drink or eat. Well worth a pit stop.

This is a popular place for expatriates to have a beer after work. The selection of beers and service is good. Personally, I wouldn't go to Joe Bananas to eat. That isn't to say that the food is bad, but it is just typical pub grub. There are probably better pubs to eat in, if it is food that is... More

Walked from my hotel to find a pub for a beer and came upon Joe Bananas. The beer was cold the service had a smile and the food was excellent bar food. I was very happy to come upon Joe Bananas.

I ordered a mini burger appetizer, but wanted a small salad to go along with it. There is not one on the menu. I noticed that they had side salads with certain entrees, however so I asked the waitress how much I small side salad cost. She went to check and came back with a small side salad--but never quoted... More

Good selection of food and drink, live entertainment and an eclectic mix of people. If you're in Hong Kong you should make a visit here - you won't be disappointed.

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
