Taipan does it again with more 'very good' snowy mooncakes

We found the Taipan snowy mooncakes to be our favourites of this variety and type again this year. Last year, there was a run on Taipan mooncakes, with many tins and top choices being sold out in some of their branches well before Mid-Autumn festival. This year they seemed to have ramped up... read more

Taipan Bakery has become our favourite bakery for 'snowy' mooncakes, which are on sale during September each year, leading up to Mid-Autumn festival. This year, we purchased the large tin canisters with 9 piece snowy mooncakes and enjoyed most of the flavours quite well. Bird's Nest, Red Bean and Mango flavoured snowy mooncakes were our favourites this season, and we... More

Autumn brings mooncake season back to Hong Kong, something we look forward to each year as we eager sample traditional and unconventional mooncakes from the various bakeries and other establishments around the city that sell them. In recent years, snowy mooncakes have a mainstay here in HK, something we now expect (and enjoy) from certain bakeries, like Taipan. In fact,... More

Taipan (branches throughout HK) has become our favorite bakery in Hk when it comes to bread & cakes. Their cakes are reasonably priced and not overly sweet. My son loves their Japanese cheese stick and I like their scones, the eggtart crust is crunchy without the greasy feel (in my opinion better than Tai Cheong)

You can find Taipan Bakery branches quite regularly around the city. They offer a basic variety of western breads and local favorites, egg tarts included. Their baked goods and prices are very similar to A-1 Bakeries and many other local bread shops around the city. To be honest, while A-1 is our favorite, it is quite difficult to differentiate between... More

Egg tart is our favorite snack whenever we are in Hongkong. We always stop at bakeries or pastry shops and score for the egg tarts. This bakery is all over Hongkong. This one at Humphrey Avenue is just a few meters from Nathan Road. The freshly baked ones are usually out in the afternoon around 3pm.
