I am not much of a meat person but the char siew there is so good it raised the bar for all other char siew! We also ordered the spinach with wolf berry - while this sounds simple they do it to perfection! Service was very quick and the decor of the place reminds me of the olden day Shanghainese... More

Amazing service and fabulous food! Island Tang is tucked away on the 2nd floor of an office building in the heart of the city. Upon entering you are greeted by friendly staff who opens both doors for you. They are dressed really well too so you know it is a fancy restaurant right off the bat. My cousin and her... More

Was hosted to a lunch at Island Tang. Great experience. The roasted meat, char siew and roasted goose were highly recommended.

Wow, this place used to be one of my HKG fav's but they have really lost the plot. A recent visit summarized by mediocre food, inept service, and a big bill. Some food seemed reheated. Staff seemed more interested in their phones and side conversations than helping customers. Portions have always been small, but this visit we were charged for... More

The hotel concierge recommended the restaurant as one of best Cantonese restaurants in HK. The thing is that, what we expected is not what we found. The restaurant has an old HK decoration and it looks classy. The service is attentive but distant, not the kind of waiters/waitresses you should ask what the best suggestions of the menu are. We... We were invited for a business lunch and I must say, I am looking forward to taking my wife here so she too can experience the food. Everything was superb, from the service to ambience to the food. I cant say I saw the prices as we didnt pay, but by judging on the type of patrons there, it would... More

My wife and I dined at Island Tang in early May this year. The food was as good as anticipated and we loved the decor. Unfortunately the experience was marred by two aspects: intrusive service and gouging on wine prices. We found it difficult to relax with wait staff hovering over us the whole time and too quick to remove plates,... We took friends visiting HK to Island Tang for a lovely chinese meal including Peking Duck with San chow Bao & were not disappointed. The Xi Long Bao was also very tasty however one large piece instead of the smaller version more often served elsewhere. Pork with side of mustard is always our favourite as well as the crab baked... Nice decor, attentive staff and food tasty but the portions are decidedly poor and creatively costly such as Double Boiled Fish Maw - 288HK$ or Crispy Half Chicken 288HK$, String Beans 128HK$...and on it goes on...Evian 60$ or a scoop of rice 30$! So all in all it's an experience but you really could do much better for less elsewhere!

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
