Nice choice for a tasty dinner

Island Tang is a charming restaurant featuring 30's decor and skilled personnel. Food is traditionally Cantonese, including Abalone and shark's fins (poor sharks!) and bird nests. The menu includes an interesting selection of teas as wells as dim sums, which are available all day (unlike other... read more

This was our 4th or 5th visit and we were not disappointed. In saying that the chef does not take chances and the menu never changes. Peking Duck was excellent but as we were talking we asked the server to prepare the plates for us and it took three people to come over to finally accomplish the task. Loads of... More

The restaurant is inside The Galleria shopping centre which means if you go in the evening you are walking through a dead space which dampens one's enthusiasm. Once inside one is faced with décor that is usually associated with a classic French brasserie , I liked it but it felt a little odd. The food is quite expensive but well... More

Really disappointing. Beautiful retro-glamorous dining room brought down by haughty service and uninspired food. Executive lunch started with dishwater potato soup. Spring rolls OK. Prawns good though there were only three. Vegetables bland. Rice average. Ribs disgusting. Go to Din Tai Fung for much better food albeit with a less sumptuous decor. You've been warned.

I'm a fussy eater and I must say that the steamed red spotted garoupa was done to perfection. Crying off sharks fin, we went for the double boiled fish maw soup which was superb. Do ask for the Fried Rice with Salted Fish and Diced Chicken : it conjures memories of my earlier years in Hong Kong. Great service. Reasonably... More

One of my favorite restaurant in Hong Kong , i love the decoration and the food. The pekin duck is soooo fine and succulent ( make sure to have it reserved in advance ) , the dimsum are fine and very tasty, everything we had here was really amazing. It is one of my must stop each time.

The duck was excellent quality, super soft, not fatty and really tasty! The decor of the restaurant was opulent, traditional and the staff were dressed stylish and traditional. My parents visited HK for the first time and were very impressed. The wine list is excellent but very expensive. We selected a bottle for $780 which was good but probably should... More

Revisited this up market Shanghai period décor establishment. Weekday lunch clientele seemed mostly business related. Seating was comfortable and spacious enough. Was not disappointed by the food which was consistent from dim sum through to dessert. Perhaps the taste was slightly Westernised, but was ideal to match with good wines. Service was prompt and attentive.

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
