Great American diner

Great American diner, which has all the good stuff. If you got some time to kill, and you are looking for some comfort food, it is well worth a visit. The bathroom was an absolute mess though.

We had received a few coupons for Al's Diner from our serviced flat. I had an appointment on the same street so took the opportunity to look for Al's - it was the one with no one inside (or out for that matter) except the staff and one patron. The rest of the bars were filling up yet Al's remained... More

Well...a bar that's located in LKF which expat areas. Food was so so.. it's a bar, what do you expect. But it will be very interesting bar when HK 7 is on or football game. It's a great to have a sip of drinks before dinner in this place.

Having heard about its jello shots, me and a friend went to this place, after saying excuse me 5 times the waiter didn't answer, thinking he only spoke cantonese i asked him to give me 3 shots in cantonese. He looked at me and said " i dont speak cantonese" This is when i figured he was a nepalese. I... More

Al's Diner is my fav place in LKF. However, heard it might be closed - please let me know. Anyway, great music videos and like the burgers with fries.

AL’s diner is situated at the top of the hill in Lan Kwai Fong District of Hong Kong Island. It is filled with British expats enjoying the booze, 80s retro classics and football when any English teams are playing. It gets busy and boisterous on Fridays and Saturdays with dancing on the tables and a raucous signaling to the hits... More

With a great vantage point in the Lan Kwai Fong area, with frontage on to the road and right across from the China Bar, Al's diner has a lot going for it. I did not find the bar to be dirty but I did think the service was desultory; half hearted and without any sense of welcome. So be it.... More

Tried Als Diner on my visit to Hong Kong. Its well located at the beginning of lan Kwai fong. Great 70's and 80's music along with great food. And drinks. The Vodka jello shots are a signature must try. Will be back

Music is terrible, food is terrible, the place is dirty and the clientele are too. Jelly shots all around and then get out of there fast. That said, even the jelly shots are nasty.

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
