A good dim sum experience in serene restaurant

1881 heritage, the former Royal Hong Kong Marine Police headquarters building, now has a hotel and shopping mall. I had a wonderful night on 18 July 2015 with my friends and families at Hullett House. We held a Chinese style wedding dinner with the elegant décor and unrivaled views. I tried Dim Sum at lunch and Afternoon tea before but this time it is my first time for dinner. It surprised me that they serve one of the... More

We love Dim Sum, and we try many different types of restaurants. Most Dim Sum places are noisy, busy, and fun. That's totally OK for us, but once in a while, even in Hong Kong, we want to eat good Dim Sum in a quieter place. Loong Toh Yuen is perfect. It's located right in the busy neighborhood of Tsim... All in all a good experience. Some of the dishes tried were very, very good to exceptional and none disappointed. The setting is lovely. There seems to be some negative comment in the reviews about the staff. I really don't know why. They were friendly and attentive enough for my liking. Recommended.

Visited today for lunch. Had duck breast and beef cubes for starter. The duck breast was absolutely amazing. Loved the beef but wasn't very keen on the mushrooms they lay on. They were hard to chew. For the main we ordered chicken hot pot and seafood fried rice. Both were very good but chicken was absolutely delicious. Service was also... More

Was admiring the 1881 Heritage and thought why not try the food at this place and we were both pleasantly surprised. The chicken feet was quite different and good tastes to some others that we've tried to date. The tea was beautiful. Prawn pork dumpling was with real prawn on top of the sho mai - tastes okay. The scallop... More

Walking about Heritage 1881 we came across the Loong Toh Yuen Cantonese Restaurant and being lunchtime opted to sample the Dim Sum on offer. The restaurant is upmarket authentic Cantonese...think dark heavy wood carvings and stone sculptures and you have an idea of what to expect..there's none of the gaudy kitsch which can be associated with some "Chinese" establishments. Service... More

Stopped for morning tea at the beautiful Hullett House. Sat on the Parlour balcony on a glorious clear sunny day. Service was very warm and welcoming particularly from Jeff. Great respite from bustling crowds below! Tea was lovely. We didn't order any food but what we saw looked great!

The location is great as it is close to the Star Ferry so I would highly recommend taking the Star Ferry from the Hong Kong side and having an afternoon 12:00 pm to 3:00 meal here with the fixed price menu. The décor of the restaurant is nothing short of elegant, the service was impeccable and the food above average.... More
