Surprised how small the restaurant is but I like it is exclusive. Panaromic view of HK. Fantastic service. Great tasting dim sum...of course at a price. All worth it, at least to try once.

This is a treat, although expensive. We had the Peking duck (which you have to order in advance), but it is a lovely institution. The service is incredible, and the food very good.

Truly outstanding Cantonese food. Incredible service. Wonderful view. A memorable experience. If in doubt, stick to the restaurant's specialities on the menu. Not cheap, but worth it for a special occasion.

We had the tasting menu that had great variety, just not enough flavor and punch. The ambience was a little subdued and quiet. Service was impeccable. For the price, I wanted it to be fantastic, but it wasn't.

Dim Sum at the Mandarin is worth seeking out if you want safe, quality dim sum in a lovely setting. Hong Kong is full of dim sum restaurants. We wanted dim sum and were not feeling particularly adventurous, so we headed for the Mandarin. What should you expect? The food: I am not a dim sum expert, nor am I... More

Man Wah at the Mandarin Oriental is one of the most underrated Cantonese restaurants in Hong Kong. Foodies were scratching their head as to why one of the most iconic restaurant in Hong Kong did not even merit a Michelin Star when the first edition of the HK & Macau Michelin guide was released. After years of being ignored, Man... More

The Mandarin's lower-level restaurants are almost always quite busy at lunch. With some trepidation, we allowed ourselves to be re-directed to Man Wah. Expecting to be charged handsomely for an ordinary dim sum lunch, we were pleasantly surprised to find the prices affordable, the dim sum good, and the overall setting superb, with elegant furnishings, attentive service, and a stunning... Deep fried fresh abalone is a specialty dish that can only find in Sai Kung or Aberdeen area, but now Chef Lee serves this as well. Very tender inside and so juicy with nice seasoning with chilli salt.

Staying in Central

Neighborhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
