The best things about Mido cafe are firstly nostalgia of chic cafes during british colonial times in malaysia, singapore and of course hong kong. Secondly, its proximity to and great view of the Temple Street night market. Only third is the food of which only the french toast merits any honourable mention. If there are frail and elderly beware that... More

the place, easily accessible from MTR yau ma tei station, serves yummy Hong Kong style food. We had both dinner and lunch here. They do not serve duck but the pork and the chicken are nice. The small restaurant is in a busy neighbourhood with lots of other eating joints around. they serve sticky rice if you ask for ordinary... More

This place was super close to our hotel. Recommend in both the Lonely Planet and Louis Vuitton Travel guides. The French Toast is amazing. The boiled coke with lemon and ginger, also surprisingly good. Great food and very budget friendly.

I love the nostalgia trip that Mido presents, and a wonderful window view of Temple street area. Unfortunately the Char Siew Rice that I had was one of the worse I ever had in Hong Kong. The staff were friendly and efficient, unfortunately the food was quite a let down.

Went back again to try the Hong Kong Iced Milk Tea, Bo Lo Bun and French Toast…which is my favourite…as they drizzle honey over it! Food is affordable here. The layout is like a shop house…air-con dining is located upstairs. Watch for the low ceilings when making your way up the stairs. I was told that you couldn’t take photos…but... More

I wasn't sure what to expect when I was told to go to this place for the Hong Kong french toast, but let me tell you, it was worth all the hype. The restaurant alone was worth a visit just because it is a perfect vintage relic and worthy of a few photos itself. Then add to it the quality... More

A tourist spot where you will see most crowds are there to shoot the old style decor and we are there for their French toast. An outlook of a bread covered with beaten eggs, deep fried and splash with honey syrup, the plate doesn't look too appealing to the eyes but the taste is definitely for us to remember. We... More

Still maintain old sixties renovations and decorations. Simply for this reason, this place is worth a visit.

Staying in Jordan / Yau Ma Tei

Neighborhood Profile
Jordan / Yau Ma Tei
The Jordan and Yau Ma Tei neighborhood is where you will find some of the more authentic areas of Hong Kong. Not as glamorous or busy as its neighbors Mong Kok to the north or Tsim Sha Tsui to the south, Yau Ma Tei is often mistakenly overlooked by visitors on their trips to Hong Kong. Exploring parts of this area makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in time. A large part of the neighborhood draws from the rich history of Temple Street, stretching from Jordan to Yau Ma Tei, where a mix of dai pai dongs (outdoor restaurants), market stalls, fortune tellers and old karaoke bars bring out the history and culture of the area. The neighborhood is a showcase of diversity – different ethnicities, cultures, and a mix of old and new.
