Hong Kong has amazing seafood. No question. But one of the best experiences I had enjoying the massive seafood selection available in HK is at Rainbow Seafood Restaurant. You take a ferry from Central Harbour, get to witness the 360 skyline, and end up in a really interesting fishing village on Lamma island. Once there, the food options are endless.... More

Just walk by on the last weekend, 21 June 2013. I found they are remodeling their attraction site, the Fisherman's Heritage Village, which was closed down since Jan 2013. By talking to their staffs, this attraction will open in July 2014 providing fishing platform, games, and educating public about the culture and relevant heritage of fisherman in Hong Kong. While... After a pleasant boat ride from Hong Kong Central Harbour and a very interesting but steamy 45 minute walk across Lamma Island, arriving at the Rainbow Restaurant was very welcome. A simple open sided restaurant over-looking the small harbour, cooled by endless fans hanging from the roof. Welcoming and friendly staff. Large portions of very well prepared seafood, washed down... We took the Lamma Island ferry from Pier 4 in the Central District of Hong Kong. After the 30-40 minute ferry ride, we arrived at Yung Shue Wan and decided to take the 1.5 hour walking trip to Sok Kwu Wan (not the best idea in the heat and humidity of the summer in Hong Kong). Nonetheless, we made it... More

Rainbow provides a boat ride from Hong Kong Island and Kowloon to Lamma Island to dine at the restaurant. It is a totally outdoor restaurant with views of the harbor. Seafood dishes were very fresh and good, meat dish was ok. Overall we enjoyed the trip and adventure of going to Lamma even more than the dinner.

Had wonderful clams, crab and grouper for a memorable lunch right on the sea front. Sure its not a white tablecloth sort of place (think plastic chairs and tables) - bit its a informal bustling sort of place, where you can pick what you want from the tanks and it comes to you when its ready. Its not cheap -... More

Live seafood is displayed in tanks at the restaurant and you take your pick and specify how you want them to be cooked. If you are unsure of the cooking method, you can ask the staff for recommendations. Prices are not cheap so we only ordered several dishes to try (fried lobster with butter, baked scallops with cheese) including a... More

We visited here on our last day in HK. What we did not realise was that the ferry does not run until 6pm from Central Pier on weekdays so beware if you are planning a visit. Instead we got the ferry from Pier 4. The restaurant is the first one you come to & has many tanks of various types... More

Our family of 7 purposely traveled to Sok Kwu Wan for lunch and decided on Rainbow because of: 1. logistics (resto has own free ferry transfer); 2. high rating on TripAdvisor. We took the ferry at Central Pier 9, which departed at 1130am and reached the port in about 20mins. (The ferry is modern and clean, cleaner than Star Ferry... More

Wonderful location with great service and good fresh seafood. A little pricey but great wine list and quality flavours.
