On our first trip to Hong Kong, more than six years ago, we read about Shui Hu Ju in our guide book and thought it sounded interesting. Half a dozen trips later, we've eaten there every visit and still think it's one of the most interesting restaurants we know. As others have mentioned, it's a challenge to find but get... More

Well worth the walk up the hill to this discretely presented restaurant. Inside there is a feeling if seclusion and privacy. Service is generally attentive. Love the duck and cucumber entre and the fried black chicken mains loaded with picturesque chilli.

Somehow the tiny size of this restaurant still makes it feel cosy and intimate rather than cramped and irritating. Great ambience. Really good food also. Many vegetarian options (I'm vegetarian).

Shui Hu Ju is a very low profile Northern Chinese restaurant where locates at 68 Peel Street, they have a very traditional wood doors and you should be impressed once you get in there. Their decorations are nice and unique, you may saw it from China if you have been Beijing or Shanghai. Their food are presented nicely, you may... More

I always enjoy eating here. The food is unusual and of a very good quality. Try the black chicken with Chilli and the lamb. The wine list is good and the portions of a good size. The only problem was telling us at 10 that the kitchen was closing.

Terrible service (none of the 3 staff could explain anything on the menu, had to be asked several times to clear the table - every time it had to be cleared, bring a missing dish, adjust the air conditioning), food was salty and devoid of any other flavour and one dish was so spicy (not indicated on the menu) it... I went here with my boyfriend after he was taken here by a work colleague. He couldn't stop taking about this fried chicken in a massive bowl of chillies. He couldn't remember what it was called, so eventually, we found it (as he remembered a large neon panda on the shop front next to it). The trawl was worth it.... More

Dropped in to this place for dinner with a couple of mates on a Sunday evening in July. Seating is fairly cramped, with straight backed, hard wooden chairs. As we were the only customers the waitress was quickly over to our table with menus. Her first question was “Still or sparkling water for the table?” As I intended to start... More

Someone recommended this place to us, so we went here for dinner. It is in Soho, however, a bit difficult to locate, in a quaint darkish street, but once inside, it has a great ambiance. The food was good, I am not a great fan of Chinese food, mainly since I eat more veggie food than meat, but I managed... More
