Having been to the Pawn in the past and been decidedly underwhelmed by the food, we were all very pleasantly surprised by the new restaurant. The food was superb (admittedly Tom Aiken was in the kitchen) and one of the best meals we've had in Hong Kong. Personally, I preferred the old decor, but considering the much, much better food... Went Sunday, 16th November, and ordered the roast beef, which was really tasty. For pudding, I had the pear and blackberry crumble with ice cream, again very nice. I would definitely go back again. Only negative was we had a drink in the bar first, which was empty, so lacked any atmosphere, but on a positive note, this meant we... More

The Pawn was always a great traditional place, good Ol colonial surroundings and great for afterwork drinks and excellent food. Arrived here Friday 9th November only to find it has been completely renovated - a swanky upmarket wine bar appearance with prices to match. The familiar and excellent bar snacks have been replaced by extortionately expensive, poor quality and ridiculously... More

After a face lift and new chef at the Pawn, we were not too disappointed. The food was good although some of the portions were rather large. The menu is a mixture of comfort food and innovative modern dishes too. The service is good and the bar area is much more comfortable now with sofas and comfy chairs. With an... More

The historic heart of Wan Chai has been ripped out and the Pawn has been turned into a bland, garden~centre cafe. cheap furniture and naff potted plants. so incongrous with the beautiful building. Avoid.

The Pawn has just reopened after its makeover. Many have been critical to the changes to the bar area. This review is of the restaurant upstairs, however. I thought it was one of the best meals I had had in some time. Probably a shoe in for another HK Michelin star next year. The food might be described as new... More

I've been a fan of the OLD Pawn for years. I couldn't rave about it enough. It was the place i would go to for a drink with friends, relax on the couch, have a chat with the friendly waitresses, enjoy the decor, hear the trams roll past whilst sitting on the terrace. Someone then had the not so brilliant... More

Dear Geophilhk, Thank you for visiting the new Pawn and sharing with us your thoughts on our new concept. We appreciate that the departure from the old Pawn is rather drastic and may be difficult for some previous regular guests to accept. Simply put: after 6 great years as the classic modern gastropub that served as your old ‘local’, we... More

The pawn was once a great place to relax and have a beer in lovely comfortable surroundings. Since the renovations, the owners have ruined the place. Watch out for the over priced drinks. Beer in (white) wine glasses at hkd75, forget it. Plenty of better places in Hong Kong where you're not sitting on cheap ikea furniture and overpaying for... More

We just had dinner there last night (29.10/14) The VIEW is really nice from the balcony. The food is great. The service was looking for it's marks (1st night). The price was cheap (special opening menu). For more details, read here : The food was delicious (meat cooked as desired & flavours rich) and the service was good, I can't... More

A worthwhile experience. We walked in accidentally, and almost ended up on the completely empty first floor. then we found out that the real happening was on the 1st floor. Pretty nice quick lunch, lots of classics, but also new twists. Quality was quite ok, pricing was also reasonable. The place itself also looks really cool. Will come again with... More
