The restaurant space is a beautiful, minimalist space near the Lama Temple. Unfortunately, the food is extremely mediocre. Probably the most disappointing restaurant that my husband and I went to in Beijing. High-priced, bland. Nothing egregious, but save your money and go somewhere else.

We were looking for a restaurant that is a little different than the usual fare in Beijing. The concierge at our hotel recommended King's Joy, a very special place near the Lama temple. From the moment we entered, it was a transporting experience. A very picturesque setting in what seems to be a restored house, the atmosphere is zen like... More

A wonderful atmosphere coupled with an excellent service (otherwise in chinese). The food quality was good and well prepared, but not as tasty as I expected.

Signature words: vegetary, courtyard, cultural ambience, esthetic mene The fittest dress code for this place is loose comfortable like how the waitresses custume themselves, and a light stomach. Facing the Lama Temple and neighboring the ancient royal university, it's a place to feed you eyes, your, your ears, your nose, your taste and your feels, but not your starving, as... More

After visiting the Lama Temple, we visited the King's Joy Restaurant for lunch, since it was just across the street from the temple. What a great surprise! From the beautiful landscaping in front of the restaurant, to the warm greetings, the beautiful decor, and then the wonderful Asian vegetarian food - it surpassed our expectations in every way. The restaurant... More

My girlfriend and I shared one of the most romantic nights out for Valentine's Day this year at this extremely thoughtful restaurant. Every detail was perfectly decorated, with candles and even the small touch of providing long chopsticks for couples to feed one another small delicacies. The Valentine's Day menu was spectacular, cute cake with heart at the end to... More

This restaurant I must admit has been one of the most elegant vegetarians i have visited. The food is exquisite and finely done. The place is also beautiful. This is a must if you are vegetarian. Just note a little pricey we paid about 200 USD for 2 adults full course set meal.

This restaurant is a unique experience. Never have I seen such an extensive (exclusively) vegetarian menu that was simply delicious! Everything we tried was exceptional - in fact, there was so much to choose from, we went twice. A calm oasis that is refined, welcoming and delicious.

I was part of large celebration meal (for a symposium just completed) and was completely enchanted with King's Joy from the moment we arrived on property. Not only is the restaurant beautifully designed (architecture, interiors, lighting, etc.) but the staff--who were waiting in the courtyard to greet us was friendly, helpful, attentive and omnipresent. The the wonderful food started to... More
