Going to a to hyped trip advisor favorite isn't easy, but Mr Shi's did not only meet my expectations but exceeded them. Excellent dumplings for almost nothing, and the surrounding hip street was for free as well.

This place is really, really good! If you like steamed or fried dumplings (饺子), you should give this place a try. It's kind of a little hole in the wall, which makes it all the better! We were kind of overwhelmed by the sheer amount of different types of dumplings, they even had dessert dumplings with chocolate, bananas, strawberry, etc.... More

I may be ruined for dumplings back in the States. Mr. Shi's (I'm told pronounced Shur) had both fried and steamed dumplings. I suggest getting both types. The flavors were amazing. One of the sauces was a bit hot (Red Pepper hot), so chose wisely if your not a fan. Very casual and very small. Mr. Shi's Dumplings 74 Baochao... More

Teriffic dumplings in the hutong. We stuck with the traditional dumplings (pork filling, vegetable filling, etc.) and tried steamed and fried, both of which were excellent. The best dumplings we had in China.

Mr Shi's Dumplings is a moderately priced dumpling house in a hutong in central Beijing. It has numerous varieties of dumplings and is well worth the visit. It is walking distance/short cab ride from the Confucius and Lama temples. It is moderately priced with a casual, laid back atmosphere. The menu is in English and the dumplings are outstanding. It... the saving grace of this place is that it's extremely foreigner friendly but you can hardly find a local that will recommend it. Not to take anything away from Mr. Shi and his staff, they carved themselves a little niche in Beijing. More authentic experiences can be had at baoyuan or laomanxiao

delicious food, reasonably priced and great informal atmosphere. We just kept ordering more and service was great. Located in Hutons at 2 sites close to each other.... Not the easiest to find but worth it and fun to explore the area on foot.

What a gem of a place. Food was delicious - lots of choices not only dumplings and some unusual dishes but we stuck with more traditional flavours and were not disappointed. Prices very reasonable and service excellent. Yes, it is popular with foreigners but locals were ordering deliveries when we were there. Would definitely recommend.

The dumplings here were delicious, both vegetarian and meat choices. All fillings have strong, distinctive tastes and some are quite spicy. The fried dumplings were really fatty, of you aim for a light meal go for the boiled ones. The place is aimed at tourists, but the food is delicious anyway so why care? You will pay slightly more than... More

Great dumplings! The best I've had in China actually. Various flavors and you can get them fried or boiled. They even have desert dumpling with flavors like apple and banana and chocolate. Mr Shi was there one of the times I was there and he was really nice. A lot of westerners in the place and many writings on the... More
