I ate here 3 meals in a row - need I say more?

I had dinner one night and then lunch and dinner the next. OK I didn't have breakfast with Mr. Shi. Given the large number of restaurants in the area it says a lot that I ate here over and over. The beef and shiitake mushroom dumplings I had all three meals. I had a total of 6 different... read more

The food is top notch, this place is a must for all visitors. The walls and tables are covered in money and messages from all ends of the earth. The staff make the dumplings in from of you, try to make them is healthly as they can and always helpful. They speak some English but if you get stuck, there... More

When your hotel is across the street from Mr. Shi's you will eat there a lot and you likely will never be disappointed. One of life's great moments involved a plate of Mr. Shi's dumplings and 2 cold beers. The location as well is cool and the whole area has lots going on. It earns its reputation.

Still largely unknown to tourist but hugely popular with locals and expats alike, Mr Shi's has some of the best dumplings in Beijing. Located down a hutong near the Drum and Bell Towers, it's a great place to go for some good food and beer before hitting the crowded Nanluoguxiang area. Order the beef and mushroom dumplings, or any of... More

Had heard a lot of good reviews and so decided to go there. It is located in an alley way so take a map with exact location. It is a small place like a cafe. menu was in english. we ordered combination of steamed and fried dumplings. First the waiter got the order wrong so we sent back the plates.... More

At 2:30 today I entered the restaurant and asked if I could have lunch. I was seated without being told that the restaurant was about to close. Some 15 minutes later I was served my food, but when I asked for another beer the waitress told me 'no' because the restaurant was closing. She also told me to hurry up.... More

If visiting Beijing, this place can be found near the Drum & Bell tower in a hutong with a lot of other little dive-y bars (there's a 2nd location that just opened in Sanlitun as well). After an evening of exploration and drinking, we stumbled upon this place and it was bright, fun and mostly full. No frills decor with... More

Mr. Shi's knows how to do dumplings right! They make all of their dumplings right on the spot after you order them, and there are so many choices for ingredients that you can't go wrong. My wife and I both tried the "choose two" where you get six dumplings of two different types, either boiled or fried. Unless you have... More

Mr Shi is awesome, the food is really good and the cheese dumplings in particular taste great... but the place is kind of expensive by Beijing standards....
