Best in town.

Best dumplings in town. Love this place and love the fried dumplings. After a nice walk around the Hutongs get lunch at Mr Shi´s and then spend the afternoon at the lakes. A bit touristic? Yes, but the dumplings are worth it!!

Every time I go to Beijing, I go to Mr. Shi's! The dumplings are too die for! The atmosphere itself is also great, and you can draw all over the walls. It is a little bit of a walk from any meto stop, but you get to go through really interesting back alleys. Favorite restaurant in Beijing!

An amazing assortment of dumplings for a very reasonable price. The menu in English, like many other places, will be slightly marked up but it is still a steal.

Yes, it's a bit pricier than what "locals" pay for similar food -- but it's not expensive (by any means) and it's consistently DELICIOUS! I always look forward to dining here during every trip to Beijing. There are so many different kinds of dumplings, it will make your head spin! Try other stuff (non-dumplings) too -- my favorite are the... More

Nice location in the old hutongs, away from the very crowded Nanluago Xiang Road. When I came at 1:00 for lunch, there were two tables with guests, one family and one couple, both from Overseas. No locals have been in the restaurant. I ordered a mix of 15 with three kinds of dumplings. The menu is very long with a... More

We were taking a stroll in the hutongs and stumbled upon the restaurant towards the end of the walk. While the restraurant is not easy to find, there was an ample selection of dumplings on offer. We had lunch there and enjoyed the freshly made dumplings with a local beer. For starters, go for one of the recommendations in the... More

There are some positives about this restaurant but I felt that the overall atmosphere and the price of the dumplings did not lead to the eating experience that I had expected. Having lived in China for four years, I have eaten a good number of dumplings and the cheap ones on the university campus where I have been working are... More

I am an expat living in Beijing. This city is paradise on earth for food lovers (and I'm French...), Beijing is quite simply the best place on earth if you love to eat out and experience somethings different every single day of the year. I'm open minded, i love Duck de Chine (haut de gamme) and I also love a... More

I've been to both locations of Mr Shi's dumplings and found both experiences mediocre. I've had dumplings in other places in Beijing and, in comparison, this place isn't anything special. OK, so there are tons of choices and it's well known, but most of the choices aren't authentic (I've never seen cheese in dumplings elsewhere) and it's mostly overrated by... More
