The duck was very nicely done. Individual plate of sauce and veg to go with it. Free fruits. The service was good and deco and ambience was great. Must reserve beforehand. Must try.

This is one of two Da Dong restaurants in Beijing. They market themselves as providing a lean version of the famous Beijing Duck. The leanness is achieved by "bleeding" the duck of its fat after it has been thoroughly cooked in one of four huge wood-fired ovens. When the restaurant is busy, these ovens seem dedicated to a veritable production... More

We dined at the Dadong restaurant yesterday and had a poor experience all because of the service. We made our reservation, which is required, we were promptly seated and then it started. We ordered water and a bottle of wine. The waitress almost threw the water at us as she served it and spilled the wine as she served it.... More

the kind of restaurant that you can come back many times, knowing exactly what you are going to get it. the roast duck is delicious, and not expensive. the environment is good. we are a family of 3, with an 8 year old kid, and every time we go... we left the restaurant wondering how to skip the dinner :)... Every course sends your eyes and palate on a different journey. The food is exquisite, and there is no doubt, they have the best duck I have ever had in my life. I am a foodie and I am adventurous and not fussy by any means (I will try almost anything once), but I do believe this restaurant is best... More

I picked Dadong over Quanjude after having read the good reviews, but was very disappointed. We went to the Jinbao branch in Wangfujing. The new and trendy decor was great, and the design with the cooking theatre right in the middle surrounded by koi ponds was very impressive. But when it came to the food, it was not good at... More

This roast duck experience is totally different from what I expected. Didn't read any reviews beforehand, so was expecting a traditional Chinese type restaurant. This outlet at Jinbao was really cool... the ducks are roasted in a square with four open ovens in each corner and this square was surrounded by a koi pool. If you manage to get a... More

Came here on the strength of the reviews, but the duck really seemed a little a bland. Perhaps the other reviewers have been caught up in the reputation and atmosphere (upon entering, you see a wall loaded with culinary awards). Oddly enough, the most enjoyable dish was the the veal, which was superb.

This place is gorgeous and definitely the place to have your Peking Duck. You get to see the chefs lifting the ducks into large ovens while you wait for a table: take a good look! The duck itself is expertly cut and served with a selection of great garnishes. Also take a look at the rest of the menu: we... More
