Reading the menu was a hoot. The options range from tasty versions of the common meals through to ....'can you believe this?' versions of ... well, almost anything and everything. Turtle, shark fin, eel, gizzards, and the list goes on. We chose dishes we'd never...had before, but stuck with the more traditional ingredients: fish, duck, fungi, and the like. The food was spicy, hot and delicious. The service was quick and efficient but not warm or friendly. It was all very business like. Seating is in stalls, or at least that we we were placed. Devoid of atmosphere. There may be other parts of the restaurant that are more welcoming. Despite the shortcomings the food is well worth the visit, and as i mentioned, reading the menu alone is worth a visit.More

From the outside the place looks fairly unimposing, located on the third floor of a small shopping mall whose best years are behind it, with many empty shops. Inside, the restaurant goes on for ever and ever - it is massive. Woe betide the diner...who makes a wrong turn whilst searching for the rest rooms as it may be some hours before he finds the correct route back to his table. Lots of private dining rooms and several large open seating rooms with a couple of more divided up booths and round table areas. The menus were a bit confusing, some dishes turned out to be unavailable after the waitress had taken the order, and the visual guide to spice levels of each dish seemed to bear little resemblance to the actual heat of the dishes served at the table. Food was generally a little oily, but I think that this may be an accurate reflection of the Sichuan cuisine in general. The highlight was definitely a fish dish with chiles and cumin. The waiter brought our choice of fish to the table flopping around in a plastic bag and bucket which seemed a bit pointless as we couldn't even make out what type of fish it was, let alone whether it was a good specimen or not! 10 minutes later, the cooked fish was brought to the table in a large bowl of boiling stock and what must have been a whole pound of dried red chilles. The waitress scooped out many of the chilles with a ladle, but still left a few dozen floating around the fish. It was with much trepidation that we dived in with our chopsticks to taste the sliced up fish within, but to our amazement, the fish was absolutely beautifully cooked and although the taste of chilles was strong, it really wasn't very spicy at all when compared with some of the other dishes we ate. Price was reasonable at 800 yuan for a party of four with one round of drinks.More

In last more than 10 years I regularly visit this restaurant which all times keep the same standard. If you do not mind spicy food (but you can order also not spicy) it is just a great place. Order draft beer (fresh one), spare ribs...for starter and some spicy delicacies for main course, finish with famous dan-dan noodles and you will surely be full, satisfied and happy. And not so much money will leak out of your pocket. Fabulous option of good food for paid money!!!!! It usually starts to be full with customers around 6:00pm, so try to be there either before 6pm or around 8pm, when some guests starts to leave and table are available again.More

I usually stay in the Beijing International next door which has appallingly bad food. So use this place as one of my regulars when in Beijing. Have usually eaten on my own so not tried the more unusual or the very spicy food. The place...is (a friend from Sichuan tells me) authentic but it is also lao wei friendly in that the menu has photos and the chili coding for the spicy dishes. Be careful about the three chili dishes - they are great but need to be matched with some milder ones. I have tried a lot of the basics here - Kung Pao chicken, lamb with cumin, spicy eggplant, string beans with pork, garlic pork etc. and all have been good. Prices reasonable value if you want location and reasonable comfort - stay away from the seafood, ducks and frogs and you can get a good big meal with a couple of beers for RMB50-80 or so. And good quality.More

The best restaurant in Beijing. Me and my girlfriend both think so, and she's from Chongqing. 辣子鸡 and 渝信炒饭 are unbeatable. We come here once a week.

I really don't understand why Sichuan food is so popular! I've never really got it - and I love spicy food but, to me, a lot of Chuancai is just oily spice that leaves your mouth in need of copious amounts of sorbet. This chain...restaurant provides well-prepared Sichuan cuisine in fairly comfortable surroundings. This level of service can be really hit or miss (often get miserable waiting on staff...but you are sometimes pleasantly surprised). OK if you fancy a spice hitMore
