Great place and excellent food. There was a Tibetan group playing and dancing all night long... It is a wonderful experience and a definitely a place to go when in Beijing. The best tables are the ones close to the stage.

First of all they had lost our reservation, which didn't actually matter seeing as there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, but still seemed to cause quite a lot of fuss. The food was quite disappointing compared to Tibetan food we had tried previously - Makye Ame's version was much more greasy and stodgy by comparison. The decor is interesting... More

The place has a very cool vibe! I was there in 2009 during lunch time and went back there again for the show and dinner in 2014 on a Saturday night. The show was great - the performers seem to be passionate about what they're doing. I agree with what others have said and I think that food was better... More

I ate here several years ago - 2008 or 2009, I think - and it was much better then. The food was ok, but it seemed like a lot of it had been microwaved. The dumpling things that we ordered were inconsistently heated - so they were either microwaved or cooked in batches. When we arrived, it was quiet and... More

Makye Ame brings Tibet to Beijing. Although I missed the show, I caught the dancers rehearsing since I came early. Graceful and pretty girls, they seem to have the soul for it. I ordered the roast Yak ribs and it was delicious. Nothing like the western steak. A lot of garlic though. The order was huge so I brought half... More

It's hard to get good food in Beijing other than Chinese. This is a good choice. Tibetan food can be tough for a western palate, but there were plenty of choices.

My husband and I wanted to try Tibetan food for a while. We went to this restaurant and ordered their yak steak with potatoes, one portion of fried myshrooms and a bottle of some imported wine.  While waiting for the food to come out, we both went to the restroom and noticed that some of the staff members who serve... Had some friends/business associates take us here while in Beijing on vacation with the family. I found the food very good, but I tend to have very open taste to new foods. Was a mixture of what was called ethnic Tibetan food, some spicy, some not. The menu was a vast selection of different foods selected by our friends that... More

Restaurant is not easy to find if you don't know location. Food was good and portion sizes is big. It is very easy order too much. Cold spicy yak tongue was very good. Yak meat with potatoes was quite good. Meat chewy which was not so good. Maybe longer cooking time could help.

I went in this restaurant during a weekend spent in Beijing, following the advice found on a turistic guide. It is in the embassy area. I cannot judge Tibetan food as I never was in Tibet, but I can say that this restaurant offers a large range of foods based on typical ingredients as yak meat and tsampa. I ordered... More
