Unpretentious and good

Spent the evening here and the set menu is perfect. Excellent service in the quiet courtyard and food of very authentic quality. The area is certainly the best in Beijing.

Tucked away in a hutong that didn't feature on my map, this was worth searching for. Set menu of fresh produce, it was tasty and vibrant. Delicious mushrooms, the chicken was also excellent but the hero was the whole fried flounder. One of the few places around town selling wine by the glass which is also handy.

It's set meal everyday. Just tell them how many person and they will serve what they cook for the day. The food is good and certainly not those dishes from big restaurants. More like family dishes. Service is good. Which I think is hard to come by in Beijing. One of the reasons people eat there is to get the... More

like many other reviewers we decided to go to this restaurant after it has been recommended by our hotel , our guide and reading the reviews on tripadvisor. The restaurant is located in a narrow alley off one of the main restaurant streets in Beijing close to the Bell Tower. Again we had not booked but when we arrived at... More

We picked Dali after our visit to Houtong area in Huhai lake. It was recommended in the Eyewitness traveller guide and seemed a good option for this location. Unfortunately we did not know the menu was set and nobody told us, we just saw food starting coming. It was ok, but I wasn'r particularly thrilled by the dishes. The setting... More

Admittedly, the location and setting will appeal to anyone who does not live in Beijing (or elsewhere in China). The rest of the offering here is hardly worth mentioning: the surprise menu consists of mostly very oily dishes that lack the sparkle and freshness that Yunnan food can have. Whilst it is not actively bad, there is not much to... More

Highly recommended by Beijingers and apparently the winner of numerous awards for its excellent Yunnan set menu. Very good service and a good wine list - but its also little pricey by Beijing standards. Its also a very good idea to book - as the place is popular. English is spoken by some of the staff. Hard to find, even... More

We had our best meal in China there. We paid about 130 yuan each and had a myriad of dishes all super tasty. We were just two people and it was already amazing but the table next to us was a big group and had an even greater variety of delicious food. This was the most expensive dinner we had... More

Quite nice place, very quiet. Many foreigners here. Without menu, more fun. foods are ok... Average Yunnan restaurant. Bit high price. If they are organic could be more good.

We went here for my husband's birthday and it proved the perfect choice as the setting (main courtyard with fairylights and some side rooms), decor and food were wonderful. It was just nicely busy with a mix of clientele. The set menu meant we were surprised at each course, but delighted! Especially memorable was the large fish served opened out... More
