Just Okay

I was a bit underwhelmed by Made In China in general. Service was less than lackluster and the serving dishes, flatware were not what I would expect in a restaurant at this price level. Food was ok (just)-but sloppy in presentation. As a solo diner i was placed at a kitchen counter-despite the... read more

I really hate to make a negative review of this place as I'm a royal Hyatt customer....but.... I went there as I read a review by someone here saying that it was great for solo dining. I got seated by the kitchen, so that was fun to watch. The problem is that as a solo diner, I NEVER had anyone... More

We ate at Made in China on our first night in Beijing, and it was the best meal of our four days there. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with small kitchens spread throughout, and the service was attentive but discreet and unrushed. The food was spectacularly good; it was a perfect beginning to our trip! We would definitely return.

This is a real find.Aside from amazing Peking duck all the dishes we had were superb.Even the cabbage was sensational.Sizzling lamb with cumin, king prawns with honey and ginger and glorious crispy pigeon were especially noteworthy.Peach sherbert was a delight to round things off.A surprisingly wide ranging wine list fairly priced made our evening complete.Friendly helpful service too. This is surely one... Made in China has always been my go to place in Beijing whenever I am here for a visit. And it's always been a place that I would recommend going to when friends or family are traveling. Looks like that streak will be coming to a sad end. We went Saturday night with two guests new to Beijing and a... More

Most people who have been to this restaurant, including me, would agree that the food is good to great. But the service is totally something else. Unattentive or even rude staff, who pretend not to see you. Even after I managed to get their attention and ask for water to be served, it took 15 mins plus another reminder before... More

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt and decided on our last night to have Peking Duck at Made in China. We had spring rolls, Peking Duck, and a noodle dish, 3 sodas and a beer and the bill was 675Y. 45Y for a soda water seemed a bit over priced! The food was good, but the service was downright awful.... More

We had dinner here the night we arrived in Beijing, we tried the tasting menu for 2 with peking duck, overall good, good price, didn't like the spinach and marinated chicken hat they bring first, didn't look fresh and coincidentally my wife got sick next day, but the rest was delicious. They don't clean tables immediately after clients leave, and... More

My wife and I had dinner at Made In China on a recent visit to Beijing. Our meal was delicious and the evening was memorable. Service was prompt and personable, and we had no menu or waiter issues with language (ours is English). The open kitchen provided entertainment throughout the evening as we watched the chefs go about their craft.... More

I've had Peking duck several times in my life and I've never seen a duck with such crispy skin and lean meat! We got the set menu for 2 and it was more than enough. It included half a duck, duck soup, veggies, meat dishes and a huge dessert that was yummy! Reservation is a must. I booked online a... More
