Batil aman

A very nice hotel and restaurang just off the beach in Shella, but it is worth to walk those hundreds meter to get good food and also to look at this old Shella house.

Staying in this hotel was an amazing experience. We absolutely loved it. We chose Room 6 because of its size and the ancient Arabic feel to it. The restaurant was good, especially the Swahilli dinner we had on the roof. I do hope that we are able to return one day!

A quiet afternoon in low season I stumbled on this beautiful little restaurant which is part of the Baitil Aman guesthouse. While waiting for my lunch, and during my coffee, the lovely waiter - Ngala, regaled me with the history of the 250 year old house, which was now a guesthouse. The restaurant is open air next to a garden,... More

Friendly but very slow service. Roof top cushions under the sky gives lovely setting.

Simple and good food to low prices. Don't forget to ask if you can eat at the roof.

A friend and I went here for dinner and it was an amazing experience. We sat on pillows on the rooftop amongst lanterns while we enjoyed the best food of our entire trip! The staff was so great and accommodating which made the experience even better. This restaurant is a must for anyone visiting Lamu!

We had two of our most enjoyable dinners in Shela at the Baitil Aman. The food is nothing super fancy -- pretty good Swahili cuisine -- but the best thing is the atmospheric rooftop setting, where you sit on cushions under the stars and eat off of ... well, the floor, actually, but it's a lot of fun. Extremely friendly... More

This place does very nice Swahili food - you can eat on their roof terrace on mats with cushions with a view of Shela and the stars - was really lovely. We had a lovely soup (carrot and ginger) and a main dish plus a fruit juice - came to 1,200 KSH each.
