The Carnivore is a long standing restaurant in Nairobi but over the years, I somehow never had the chance to eat there (although I tried the similar theme in the Panari Restaurant once). This time, I decided to try with my mother who is visiting Africa for the first time, I wasn't disappointed. There are at least 10-12 different types... More

by using the term barbecue lightly, i must say that the experience at the carnivore restaurant exceeds expectations time and again. my favorite is their 'eat all you can' or their meat platters. very nicely char grilled fresh meat that's never disappointing plus if you're lucky, an array of game meat is also available seasonally . . . ask for... The Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi was one of the top place in town many years ago. However after the new government policy of limiting type of game animals could be served, the restaurant lose its grand appeal. However on our visit, we felt the restaurant still have the excitement and uniqueness that few other restaurants in town can offer. For... More

I haven't been to the carnivore in the last 3 years and was quite pleased to find that the establishment had sustained high standards of food and service. Waiting service was particularly attentive to the needs of the children. The restaurant also tries to compensate for the 'ban in game meat' via refreshed menu. - The fish cake with arrowroot... I was in Nairobi for a day and wanted to explore a good interpretation of Kenyan cuisine. Our hotel recommended we try The Carnivore. Google maps suggests a 20 minute drive - but with traffic - this trip can take upwards of 1 hour in peak Kenyan traffic. The concept of The Carnivore is brilliant in theory. Create a faux... More

We liked Carnivore - it was about ~20 KM from the Nairobi airport so we went there when we had a few hours of downtime for a layover. My group liked all of the food options (crocodile to rabbit to ostrich sausage) that gave them something adventurous to try! The ambiance is also quite nice, just very dark at night.... More
