Service is perfect, but...

.. food really needs improvement. Had a senegalese chicken stew, a very generous plate with 4 big chunks of chicken. But no seasoning. A mild sauce was served to the chicken but it did not improve the taste. At the end - we had espressos - that were lukewarm watery coffee. So obviously Palanka... read more

I went to le palanka for a special brunch that was being prepared by a famous chef from Nigeria early this month. Brunch was set for 11am but even by midday they had not set up yet. The service was terrible and despite the fact that we were the only 2 patrons in the restaurant, it took a while to... More

Always very lively on Thursdays when Kidum plays. One of two places that serves decent pan African cuisine in Nairobi.

Really nice layout, and looks like it would be fun for happy hour and drinks, but we came here for a late lunch and the place was empty. The servers were fairly attentive. The food was decent to pretty good, but way overpriced. I had better ugali on the street in Nairobi The sweet potato side was quite good. The... More

We were a party of three and none of us enjoyed their food. It was cold and didn't have taste. The service was nothing to write home about

West African food is quite a novelty in Nairobi, so Le Palanka should work. But the quality of the food lets it down. The menu looks impressive, with object like Poulet yassa and more exotic dishes from Cameroon and cote d'ivoire. Still, most of what we ordered was inedible. The meat quality was poor and food wasn't seasoned well at... More

It begun when i asked for hot chocolate and told that the milk was stale. To the waiters benefit though she did recommend some cocktails,,,then the food...the maffe and rabbit something,,the sauce was bitter and the explanation was perhaps it didn't marinate too well...the kids section was a mess. The bouncing castle section at its entrance had some sharp stones... More

Despite the fact that the grounds are pleasant enough, every aspect of my experience at this restaurant was terrible. I was seated outside, and there was a strong smell of garbage/sewage that kept wafting over the table for the entire meal. It took over one hour just to get the "starter" that I ordered. When the main came (I had... More

Arrived at the restaurant at around 2130 2015-05-28. The parking was full and no one was around to assist with parking; we squeezed between two cars and a tree -_-. We went to the entrance and were met by a friendly chap (maitre d'hotel?) who placed us at a kibanda near the entrance. Since it was chilly, we asked for... More

A nice variety of dishes from across Africa. Overall the food is nice quality, the garden is peaceful and relaxing, and there is a play area for kids, so we have been a handful of times. A good change from the usual nairobi fate. I really miss west African cuisine, so often order something from that region, and inevitably am... More
