Friends and I eat at Abyssinia regularly, easily twice a month if not more often. The food is very good and is consistent. They've recently started offered tef injera as well as the white which is a nice improvement. The owner and staff are friendly and recognize return customers. Highly recommended.

This is an interesting setting for Ethiopian food- and authentic. Of the Ethiopian restaurants here that I have tried, this was by far the best. The dishes were vary varied in colour and texture and ingredients, and the waiter offered suggestions so that our choices would include some dishes that were dry, some with gravy, some meaty, some vegetarian. It... More

Very good food; excellent service. At night it gets quite chilly in Nairobi, we were a bit cold, so the waiters put our table next to the fireplace and put it on. Hard to imagine a better setting to enjoy Ethiopian food. The coffee ceremony after dinner is another highlight. The place is well hidden and the taxi drivers hardly... More

I went to 3 Ethiopian/ Eritrean restaurants in Nairobi, and thought this one was the best. The spices, portions, and flavors were fantastic. The coffee in the back area was excellent, too. I went with a bunch of locals so it's not all filled with tourists :-)

Hidden away in Westlands this is one of my favourite restaurants in Nairobi. Great Ethiopian food (come with friends and get the combination plates for sure) in a nice outdoor setting.

this restaurant is very popular with tourists.. one of the most expensive ethiopian restaurants in town compared to the rest. you definitely have to wait a while for the food and service. however, all in all,,, food is great... i wouldnt recommend the sheesha much... there are better places for that.

The best Friday lunch I have had in many years. A fulfilling satisfying meal with a great atmosphere. The owner came by to say hi and spend some time talking about why he does what he does - to have happy customers. And we left happy and stuffed.

I really enjoy a lot when I go to Abyssinia with my friends, as they don't only have excellent and delicious food, but also the place has its charm! the light aroma of incense, the dim light and the pleasant music invite you to enjoy a nice chat and to have a good time with your friends while you are... We have eaten at many an Ethiopian restaurant (including a few IN Ethiopia) and Abyssinia is absolutely the top of the list for us. We recommend sitting out in the garden as the weather in Kenya is hard to beat and the atmosphere is very pleasant---plan to spend some time as there is "no hurry in Africa" but know that... More

In our experience Abyssinia is your best choice for authentic Ethiopian food in Nairobi. We enjoy going as a family on Sunday afternoons. The owner is great with the kids and the service is excellent. If you want "fast food" don't opt for Ethiopian and if you want fast Ethiopian, then you don't really want Ethiopian. Relax, enjoy the experience... More
