I stopped into Tamambo for a lunch break while shopping at the Village Market. I sat outside in the non-smoking section. There were a number of people smoking hookahs in the smoking section, but the smell did not drift over. I had the vegetarian combo consisting of tomato bruschetta, khalloumi bruschetta, a spinach and Camembert samosa, Mediterranean crosstie, hummus, and... More

I won a dinner for two as part of the local supermarket contest at any of the tamarind group restaurants. We decided to opt for this one, due to its proximity. I ordered pepper steak, and got extreme stomach cramps and high fevers. I was diagnosed with severe bacterial infection, and was told to detox the body for one week.... More

I went to Tamambo yesterday to eat the Tajine but was was served three pieces of chicken in a dark sauce of dubious provenance and a small dish of couscous. Vastly overpriced and nothing at all like a Tajine - the restaurant does not even have a Tajine pot! Way below the standard expected from Tamarind Group and why do... More

We went here for a family dinner just before xmas. Maybe they were just cleaning out the fridge but out food was below par. The prawns were rubbery and after sending them back they came back like a boomerang. Tamambo just put them on the grill and poured new gravy on it. That's not the way to handle this. My... More

We went on Beatles Saturday night - got a table and I have to agree that the food was not that great but I remember service was quite good though. The main draw was the live band which was really quite good considering that we were in Nairobi Kenya - so we will give it a Very Good rating for... More

A number of people told me that there was a 'tapas restaurant' in Village Market. Not a place I usually visit, but I was out that way so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm afraid that their tapas is nothing like the tapas I've experienced anywhere else in the world. The only thing it had in common with... More

Even though the food and drinks were not great, the ambiance and live music on Friday truly make the difference with other places. A great option to hang out with frinds on the weekend.

As others have mentioned, the Tamarind group has a pretty good reputation, but I was unimpressed by this place. First up, its not cheap - but putting that aside, the food was just awful! We had Kachos to start with - which were OK (then again, how wrong can you go with chips and guacamole), but a little stingy on... More

The usually excellent reputation of the Tamarind group was shattered in our minds by a surprisingly awful lunch. An earnest but inept waiter serviced us rubbery calamaris, reheated spareribs and a Swahili fish with a not-too-bad sauce over a chewy overcooked red snapper. Only the graciousness of the manager saved this review from being one star: after we explained our... More
