A hidden treasure

Great Indian food hidden from the main road. We had a delicious lunch with good service, but don't expect any fast food. The place also has an interesting history.

Ate lunch here on our last day before flying back to London in the evening as its was highly recommended. There were 10 of us with half of us vegetarians and we ordered 6 main plates. All dishes were great and the fresh rotis were the best. The bill came to about $40 for 10 of us so a super... More

A friend invited me to this hidden gem and I was pleasantly surprised as I had passed by many times but never gone in. There is no menu and the staff tell one what is available. The food is cooked on order. The owner is a wonderful old man who recommends dishes and talks freely to his clients, most of... More

I enjoyed a wonderful evening at Shamuras with friends and family. World class service and the food was excellent. The owner made a special visit to our table and made personal recommendations for our meal. I will definitely dine again on my next trip to Nairobi.

If you like "home made" Indian food this is a good place. The ambiance is okay...nothing to praise about. The staff are very friendly and service is good.

It was a very unique experience, there were no menus available just a verbal selection of what had been prepared on the day. The selection that day was ok, many chicken dishes were available and we tried two out of the selection. We had butter chicken and methi; it is authentic in that the sauces are rich and spiced well,... More

Dhabas are highway restaurants (and rest places) found all along Indian Highways especially in Central and North of India, they offer wholesome, simple food and extra strong chai with enough sugar in it to take the weary drivers until their next stop. The overall experience is so authentic that many dhaba styled restaurants have popped up in the cities although... More
